Editorial Reviews

Review

"This gargantuan effort by one of this country's most insightful and productive library educators is the first comprehensive textbook that addresses the full dimensions of public librarianship in America....the work as a whole is a treasure, an essential tool for the LIS teacher. Kudos to McCook for this massive reservoir of original research and thoughtful analysis that will serve as a correction to its less-thorough predecessors." --Library Journal

"This book will become the standard text for those of us around the country committed to inspiring the next generation of librarians and library leaders." --From the Foreword by Deborah Jacobs, City Librarian, Seattle
