Editorial Reviews

Review

"I would describe the text as being a very good introductory text for beginning graduate students. One that will provide them with a comprehensive coverage of quantitative educational research methods, and an overview introduction to qualitative research methods."

"Ary, et al is the most complete educational research text I've found."

"The students can use the information from this text as a guide when they create their own research studies as well as when they read various research studies. This text helps students to be better consumers of educational research."

She served as Director of the Bureau of Evaluative Studies for several years, where she conducted institutional research studies. Before beginning graduate studies, she taught high school chemistry for three years in Kentucky. She has co-authored INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH IN EDUCATION (nine editions) and INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS (both with D. Ary), and DEVELOPING AND USING TESTS EFFECTIVELY (with C. Chase). Our professors are telling us the right answers but it is annoying and you don't know which other things may be wrong as well.

I'm using this text for a quantitative methods course at the doctoral level and I think it is a great text.

I enjoy Ary's clear examples when he introduces a concept. Each example ensconces itself within a real-life situation even when the concept gets complicated (like ANOVA). I used the sixth edition in my course. I plan to keep this one during my doctoral training for reference.

Required textbook -- while it's a fairly easy read, there are SO MANY mistakes in the book, especially in the charts and graphs. I spent hours trying to make sense of one table, asking other people to work the problems, and everyone came up with the same answer...which was different from the book. The professor worked through the problem and realized the textbook was incorrect. That was the first of many issues that were discovered over the course of the semester. If you have to have this edition (or even future editions) be careful with the numbers!

Beware of this book! It is full of errors... equations and answers are incorrect in MANY of the tables throughout the book. Our professors are telling us the right answers but it is annoying and you don't know which other things may be wrong as well. Ugghhhh!!!!

The book was in good condition. No highlights or marks or anything. Too much tape on the edges though. I guess its to protect the edges...

contents in the book is exactly what I needed. Very helpful information for the class I am currently taking. The book itself was in very poor shape. I've had the book for two weeks and the binding has fallen apart. The pages seemed as if they were photo copied. Probably paid way too much for the book because of the quality of the book.
