About the Author

Dr. W. Larry Williams, Ph.D., has conducted research and clinical work with persons with developmental disabilities since 1970. At the University of Nevada-Reno, he serves as associate chair of the Department of Psychology and associate professor in the Behavior Analysis Program. He is active in clinical, research and consulting work. Dr. Williams helped design and lead Brazil's first graduate program in special education. He taught and conducted research there until 1984. He went on to become the director of several family and community behavioral clinical intervention services at Surrey Place Center in Toronto, Ontario. From 1991 to 1994 he developed and directed the center's Behavioral Education and Consultation Service. Dr. Williams earned a doctorate in psychology in 1977 from the University of Manitoba, Canada, where he majored in learning and minored in behavior therapy.
