As the title says, it's an introduction. And a good one at that. The basics are covered with just the right amount of detail to be useful. The book also provides good references for more advanced work.

Yes...it is a good book! No doubts about that. For the basics that is. There will be a limit if you would like to pursue more on this topic. All in all, the chapters are well presented and the assigments well documented.
