Very Poor Sound Quality, May 14, 2008
This review is from: Introduction to Sarah Vaughan (Audio CD)
This CD is labeled as remastered, but if this is true then it is certainly the worst remastering job that I have ever heard. I bought this CD because I was looking for a decent Sarah Vaughan compilation that included the song "The More I See You," which I had heard on another jazz compilation. I was delighted when I found this CD because it appeared to be exactly what I was looking for; however, when I received it and listened to the songs, I was put off by the amount of static and the "far away" sound of Sarah's voice, like she is singing through thick fog or at the bottom of a well. I realize that these are old songs and some amount of static is to be expected, but I've heard better remastering of older songs than what I heard on this CD. The sound quality is so poor as to be distracting. With so many Sarah Vaughan compilations out there, you'd be safe to pass on this one.
