More About the Author

Ryan T. Cragun (1976-) is a husband, father, and sociologist of religion (in order of importance). Originally from Utah, he now lives in Florida and works at the University of Tampa. His research and writing focuses on religion, with an emphasis on Mormonism and the nonreligious. His research has been published in a variety of academic journals, including: Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Sociology of Religion, Nova Religio, Journal of Religion and Health, and Journal of Contemporary Religion. When he's not working, he's spending time with his wife and son, watching science fiction, hiking, playing soccer, or tinkering with FOSS, Gnu/Linux, or computer hardware.

Format: Paperback
This book, an Introduction to Sociology, is a printed version of a Featured Selection from Wikibooks, a project of Wikipedia. Having this nicely printed and bound version is so much more convenient than any other alternative, such as reading online.

For those who don't know, Wikibooks is the book publishing project of the Wikimedia Foundation, the same group running the ultra popular Wikipedia. I think this is the one of the first Wikibooks to make it into print.

The authors, one a Professor of Sociology and the other a Professor of Genetics, explain the history and devlopment of Sociology as a social science, describe various sociological methods, discuss general socialogical theory, gender, religion, groups, and much more. Over 240 pages of information.

This is a good book and is worth serious consideration. The price/value ratio is exceptional.
