About the Author

Allan Kardec (1804-1869) was a disciple and later a colleague of Pestalozzi, educator and researcher, and professor of Chemistry, Physics, and Comparative Anatomy in France. He became interested in paranormal research in early 1850 and went on to conduct extensive investigation in the phenomena. His first work of compilation and analysis was published in 1857 with the title The Spirits' Book. Over 100 million copies have been printed since then in more than 30 languages.
