This text offers a useful introduction to spread spectrum communications. However, I find its exposition of channel fading confusing, despite its very considerable length. Rappaport's text and Proakis' text are much more articulate on this topic. This text offers a useful introduction to spread spectrum communications. However, I find its exposition of channel fading confusing, despite its very considerable length. Rappaport's text and Proakis' text are much more articulate on this topic. This text has useful chapters on frequency-hopped spread spectrum communications, covered from a defense-electronics point of view. While this text is a useful reference for me; I would use Proakis' "Digital Communications" as my starting point if I were to start learning spread spectrum again.
