4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Basic book on Tarot, July 13, 2007

This review is from: Introduction to Tarot (Paperback)
I own several descriptive books on tarot, this is the best book I have found to understand the meaning and use of each tarot card. The descriptions are more useful than any other book I have read on the card meanings. For the very first time, I was able to do a very accurate reading with this book as reference. When I compared the other books, they all seemed to have the exact same description, no difference between them; Pictorial Key to the Tarot, The Tarot Revealed, and A Complete Guide to Tarot. I would recommend this book as your first book to tarot.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite reference!, October 13, 2009
This review is from: Introduction to Tarot (Paperback)
I bought this book in a spiritual bookstore...it was part of a set, The Complete Tarot Kit and it is the best reference I've found on the tarot for beginners. I have had the kit for about a year, but didn't take it seriously until about 5 months ago. I have just about worn this book out and plan on purchasing a replacement in the near future.

Susan's explaination of the tarot for both decks is phenomenal...I can't tell you how pleased I've been with it!

It's a MUST BUY for anyone interesting in learning the tarot!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best way to understand Tarot and put the ancient practice to everyday use., April 19, 2009
This review is from: Introduction to Tarot (Paperback)
This book is the most comprehensive, user friendly book about the basics of Tarot that you will ever find. It's pages are beautifully illustrated and full of simple yet insightful explanation for each card in a Tarot deck while providing a clear understanding of how to readily apply the information when doing a reading. It is so thorough and accessible that I have not needed to consult any other Tarot book since picking this one up. And I have become a pretty good card reader myself thanks to the author's knowledgeable instruction. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!, April 19, 2009

I wanted to learn Tarot forever and didn't know where to start, but I found this book and wow! - I now know how to read tarot cards! The way the book is laid out makes it so easy for you to understand - how cups are about emotions, how swords are about thoughts - and then each description of the card really helps you to figure out what your reading means. I refer to the book over and over and over again. Great book - a *must* if you're doing Tarot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Tarot Book Ever, September 17, 2008

I've used this Tarot book for over 15 years, and have bought multiple copies for friends. It is the most understandable book I've read for really "getting" the cards. It has a few pages devoted to explaining the "Moon" card, since this is a tricky one to understand. It also has spreads in the back, and Tarot numerology. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book/Great Gift, November 20, 2007

I have tried a few Tarot books in my day and this one is by far the best! The approach makes a lot of sense and the author has used very well organized graphics and data points to make reference look-ups easy yet comprehensive. This would make a really good gift not only because the graphics are so well done, but because the author has the gift of keeping the reader involved and interested. Two Thumbs Up!

Unlike so many of the other beginner's tarot books that I have seen, this book goes into detail for each card; major and minor arcana. I would suggest this book for someone who is trying to learn the basics of the Rider/Waite Deck.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful place to begin, May 15, 2009

This book is wonderfully illustrated and quite well done overall. I like that the book includes the astrological associations for every card. I do disagree with the author on a few points. First, I read the reversed cards. I see them as an alteration of the original meaning, not the opposite. I also have a different understanding of some of the cards, especially the Court Arcana.

But everyone who works with the cards will develop their own understanding over time. This is a great place to start.
