5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction and overview of the field, October 3, 2011
By
This review is from: Introduction to Uav Systems (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to understand UAV system. It avoids complicated formula and present ones that are representatives. It discuss aspects of UAV systems that are not directly obviously to newcomers in the field, thus giving a good headstart. Suitable for
-people just starting in UAV industry or planning to join the industry
-people who plan to acquire the UAV technology
-people interested in UAV
This book will provide wealth of info and serves as guide to research this broad topic. I should have this book when I joined this industry years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only book of its kind in the market, and it's very good., January 8, 2009
This review is from: Introduction to Uav Systems (Paperback)
If you need to know the essential equations that constrain the design of UAV systems, this book lists them for you and tries to give you some intuition on what they mean. The derivation of the formulas is not given, but doing so would make the book considerably thicker (just check the references if you are concerned about the assumptions & derivations of each formula).

This book is an excellent jumping-in book if you are already an engineer and have basic understanding acceleration, work, force, displacement, integral & differential calculus, aerodynamics, loads, electro-magnetics, etc.

The only weakness I see in the book is that it does not follow a systems engineering procedure to synthesize a UAV design, showing when to apply each formula or math model.
