4.0 out of 5 stars fair enough
This is not a response guide. It's a good intro if you're in a college-level WMD course, as it gives solid background information on the "true" weapons of mass destruction. It focuses on the Big Three (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) and their advantages and disadvantages. The illustrations are pretty terrible, and the book lacks in-depth case studies, but the data inside...

This review is from: Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction: Radiological, Chemical, and Biological (Hardcover)
This book contains a wealth of information and would make for an excellent reference if it were written and edited better. It is not intended to make the reader an expert in chemical, biological and nuclear weapons effects, but rather to give an undergraduate-level of understanding to the topics.

Unfortunately, the same information is repeated in different sections across the book with different levels of detail in each section. Other times the text is poorly written and difficult to understand. Better organization, less repetition and heavy editing would significantly enhance the book's readability.

It focuses on the Big Three (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) and their advantages and disadvantages. The illustrations are pretty terrible, and the book lacks in-depth case studies, but the data inside seems pretty sound. A good source for writing a paper, not so much for field personnel. Very little discussion of PPE.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good overview, August 8, 2007
This review is from: Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction: Radiological, Chemical, and Biological (Hardcover)
I found Introduction to Weapons of Mass Destruction: Radiological, Chemical, and Biological by R. Everett Langford to be a good introduction to the area of CBRNE. It would be more complete if it dealt with the explosive componant as well.

A good book for CBRNE Courses.
