Money for Books comments,

This review is from: Introductory Algebra (with CD-ROM) (Hardcover)
The people were very friendly but the book seemed to take forever to arrive. I was told it would ship within two days but took over two weeks to arrive. I did not expect an instructors edition. I do not recall reading that it was an instructors edition. I had avoided ordering from others, as they only offered the instructors edition. It still was a huge savings from what our book store wanted for a used book ($65.00). I would recommend this service to anyone, just advise them to order well ahead of their need for the book. They responded to all of my emails in a fast and professional manner. This was my first experience ordering from your service and I would do it again. All in all, I saved $100 over what I had paid for two used books in the college book store. Thanks for the savings.

Kaseberg * Avoid this book like the plague!!*,
By
This review is from: Introductory Algebra: Everyday Explorations (Hardcover)
Absolutely THE WORST book for learning Algebra. At first glance it seems like a great idea... equating algebra to real world applications. However Kaseberg falls entirely too short of her goal. The book is horrible! The explanations are seriously lacking, problems are not worked out to fully explain how to solve. She "revisits" things from 4 chapters ago... and is generally a poor writer. Typical of math nerds she assumes you know how to solve. Avoid any class that has any Kaseberg book if you want to survive the class with a single strand of hair left on your head.
Note to Kaseberg: Please stop writing these books... you seriously suck at it.

How Amazon worked for me,

I had bought the book for a my Math class, and I personally haven't had any problems with the book. The things I found to be frustrating was the process of purchasing the product. When I had clicked on the item, I thought I had submitted my purchased, but I wasn't sure because it kept on bring me back to the main page. It wasn't until the third time I started shuffle around the website and found I had requested to make a purchase three times. After declining two of them, I finalized the one.
Then the due date I was suppose to get the textbook, it never showed. It was I believe 2 days after I was supposed to get it, it showed. And if I also recall, I paid extra money for for faster shipping and still never got it on time. I wasn't horribly upset, but I wouldn't mind getting a discount on my next purchase. -Joe

This book is not as bad as everyone is saying. I am an older student taking Algebra for the first time in 15+ years and did not have a problem with the book. I do recommend the instructor's edition though which was very helpful!!

I don't understand why the reviews on here are negative. I used this book, and polled my classmates, and we found absolutely nothing wrong. As far as we are concerned, using this book more than prepared us for out next step in mathematics. It's assigned to our class, and we would recommend them to continue to assign it. Thank you.

Terrible,

This book is impossible to use. Students find it the most confusing mess they've ever seen. I teach at the community college (in Reno) and this is a nightmare to teach from. DON'T BUY IT! I repeat: DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!

The wors book I've ever read.,

This book is just as bad as the author's other work "Intermediate Algebra". The reader will be more confused than enlightened on the subject of Algebra. I've had teachers and upper classmen try to read the book and they concur, this is absolutley the worse Algebra book ever written.

Kaseberg's 2nd Edition is Terrific,
By A Customer
This review is from: Introductory Algebra: A Just-In-Time Approach (Hardcover)
Kaseberg outdid herself on the second editon (2000 publication date)of Just-in-Time! Yes, the first edition (1996 edition)was difficult to read and lacked organization. But those problems have been fixed. The 2nd edition is very readable and the organization is much clearer. The new edition also has more exercises. The best thing about this book is that no one can ever again ask "why do I need to know this?" because from the first page, Kaseberg shows you how the math is used in the real world. Also, in many places you get a triple whammy explanation of the math: you get it with algebra symbols, if that doesn't work, she shows you how the same idea looks on a graph, and in case you still don't get it, she shows how the same math looks with sketches of stuff in the real world. Finally, Kaseberg treats you like you have a brain--she helps you discover why the math works instead of just telling you that it works and expecting you to believe her. I LOVE this book!
