This book is perfect for those looking for an introduction to psychiatry. The text is pleasantly readable and very informative. I would highly recommend this for anyone in the field of psychology or those who are just interested in reading up on it.

I use this for my medical school psychiatry class and I think it does a very good job of detailing the conditions we are studying in an easy and condensed form.

This book takes a difficult subject and clarifies about as well as I can imagine. It is very nicely done, and a good reference or introductory text. It could use a bit more color, some illustrations, and some tables, but overall it is a very satisfactory book for its purpose.

Each and every chapter of this outstanding, valued text begins with Literature; e.g. our chapter on Adjustment Disorders commences with the Bard of Stratford-on-Avon thus: "Whether `tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings-and-arrows of outrageous fortune..."{2} Our forensic colleagues, both Defense Bar and Plaintiff Bar, might derive a smile at the wisdom, wit; and, dry humor that begins our chapter on Legal Issues thus: "Lawsuit, n. a machine that you go into as a pig and come out as a sausage." {3} This outstanding text is a valuable study adjunct for the United States Medical Licensure Examination Step III {U.S.M.L.E. III}, the American Board of Internal Medicine {A.B.I.M.}, and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I have recommended this outstanding text to my students! |REFERENCES| 1. this was required reading for our psychiatry course. I felt it was a decent textbook for the subject. I just don't like the subject.
