I have looked for the CD reissue of the original Electrola recording for years and am very glad to have finally found it. There is no better rendering of these beautiful, exquisitely romantic songs anywhere. Fischer-Dieskau has made them his own and, as usual, he and Karl Engel so well anticipate each other that it sounds as if they are reading each other's minds. It's difficult to believe that Brhams himself would not have been very well pleased.

This is an unbelievable collection of lied and songs performed by one of the greatest baritones ever. Dieskau's output is simply amazing, I'm glad he did so many of these.
