3.0 out of 5 stars wrong description
This description is for the rodent traps, but the part number and picture is for mouse traps...contact the seller directly and they can help you out as they did me.

In my garage I currently have 4 of these babies, 6 of the Victor brand and 4 of a different brand - all similar style (quick-set, easy disposal). The intruder traps outperform the others by orders of magnitude!

It was not uncommon to check the traps in the morning and find 4 dead mice in the intruders and none of the others even snapped!

I only bought the other traps because I could not find the intruder mouse traps at our local stores any more. I think our mice are just too clever for the other traps. The intruder traps are truly hair-trigger and really work.

Occasionally I'll find one snapped without a mouse. Make sure you tie a string to them. Before I started doing that, I had a couple of traps walk away probably because they snapped on a mouse's tail.

5.0 out of 5 stars With apologies to Lennie, January 7, 2008

We live in the great wilderness known as Connecticut and have some very clever mice who, despite my best efforts, manage to find their way into our home every winter. I finally got sick of risking digits every time I needed to set a mouse trap (although I miss the rush, I need to use a keyboard every day at the office). The next step was to get a cat, but happily I found these first since I hate cats. In contrast to the wooden devices first introduced in early 12th century Europe, these traps are extremely easy to bait, set and place. You have to try really hard to hurt yourself with one of these -- in fact, I don't think it's possible. The entire design is very clever and the product photo on amazon doesn't do them justice. A quantum leap forward in trap design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works like a snap! (ok, bad joke)., May 28, 2009
This review is from: Better Mousetrap 6 Pack
I bought an old farm that is miles from proper civilization and wildlife can gallivant around with impunity. The 150 year old farmhouse is a stone throw from the barn and stables, which offers an attractive invitation to small furry quadrupeds of the rodent variety. Why spend your nights shivering in the barn or in the fields when there's a warm, dry house nearby? A house of food and water, and ample nooks to build a new nest? The logic of the argument is sound, and mice, being mathematically logical creatures, decided to move in.

First it was the tell-tale evidence of droppings along the sink and counters. Then my bag of loose-leaf tea imported from England was targeted, causing the highly-caffeinated mice to poop in more inventive places and in mind-boggling ways. Then came the mid-night scurrings in the walls beside my bed. That settled it.

I purchased the Intruder Better Mouse Trap and loaded them with peanut butter. The trigger mechanism is light - I snapped them numerous times while handling the traps. But don't fear: you won't break any bones if your digit is clamped. I tell you this from experience. The trap doesn't crush the mice as much as it suffocates the little blighters.

One the very first night I had the traps in place I caught a mouse. Several days later another one bit it, and since then I have had no further mouse problems.

Releasing the dead mouse is simple - you just pinch the ends of the trap and PLOP the mouse falls into the trash. There's no "ick" factor because the mice are not crushed like other traps might. The process is simple, clean, and obviously works well.

I still have the traps set in various places in my house, in case a new batch of mice decide to move in. Until then, I can enjoy my English loose leaf tea and rest at night without disturbance.

5.0 out of 5 stars hair trigger! it works, it works!, August 28, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Two things make this trap different:
--"hair trigger" -- its a different spring design from any other trap i've seen, and the result is a real hair trigger on it. In the best way.
--"indent" where the bait goes. This is a great idea. The bait goes in between a couple of plastic spikes. This means the mouse has to "dig" for the bait - thus once again ensuring the trigger is released.

Bottom line is therefore its got a reliable trigger - and thats why it works where other traps dont. I had a mouse problem for 10 days, tried every possible trap from the local home depot - nothing worked, the bait got eaten but the trap remained open. It was a tiny mouse. Finally I read the rave reviews here, ordered it and waited patiently for it to arrive in the mail. Once the INTRUDER TRAP got here, I immediately opened the package and set the trap and went out for a cup of coffee. 10 MINUTES - IT WORKED. Incredible. There was a lovely tiny-mouse-carcass waiting for me when I got back with my coffee. Think about that. 10 DAYS of 5 different mouse trap brands - vs just 10 MINUTES with the "intruder" trap. Really.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! BUT- A WORD OF CAUTION!, December 13, 2010

This review is from: Better Mousetrap 6 Pack
The Better Mousetrap and The Better Rodentraps are without doubt the best, and no mess! The spring is stainless, so the traps will last a lifetime. But, it will pay to tie a string on to them or to put them in locations you won't forget. Number them with a marker if you have more than one. The trigger is so sensitive (no harm to you, though) that on a few occasions just a leg or even tail is caught, then the trap may wander around a bit. Once, a mouse took the mousetrap under a cabinet in our basement, and not seeing it, I forgot about it --till a week later when I started noticing a unique, rather unpleasant fragrance that provoked a thorough search.
However, most of the time the mouse is dispatched in-situ, and there's no problem. Still, a word to the wise . . .

Postscript 12/28/2011: See the comments for more info on HOW to tie a string to the mouse traps. The rodent trap has a lip built in for the purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best trap I have ever purchased, January 10, 2009
Seems to catch mice far better than any trap I've purchased in the past. Putting a little less than a penny size thing of peanut butter in the middle of it and one trap has caught well over ten mice. No mouse has been able to touch the peanut butter in the trap. They get close but the trap is sensitive and wins every time.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!, October 29, 2008
I've had conventional mousetraps set for 2 weeks with no success. I bought these and set them last night. This a.m. I had the little critter!! They couldn't have been easier to set, were very, very trigger sensitive, and extremely easy to dispose of. I just have one word for them . . . AWESOME!!

Works as promised. The trigger sensitivity is consistent, unlike traditional traps which can be either too insensitive or unsettable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best after more than 3 years, August 30, 2008

Don't bother getting any other mouse trap. Period.
I've had two of the Intruder "Better Mouse Trap" for more than three years. All other kinds have broken and failed to catch mice. Those Intruder traps have caught more mice WITH NO bait than the rest with cheese, peanut butter, and every other bait I've tried. This is why I just ordered 6 more "Better Mouse Trap": I am finally throwing out all the other kinds of traps. Six is more than I need, but I expect I'm going to loan some out and not get them back. Once you see how well these work, you'll understand the temptation.
One more thing, they do have a sensitive hair-trigger. Well worth the extra seconds it takes to set the trap sometimes: you only THOUGHT you didn't vibrate the trigger while setting it :)
Another reviewer suggested anchoring the trap. In 20+ catches, I never had a live catch until recently. I thought my wife had thrown out the trap with yet another mouse, but found the trap, and the expired mouse, under the nearby packing supplies. Excuse me while I go look for some string...

5.0 out of 5 stars So long, Mickey, November 23, 2011
By
This review is from: Better Mousetrap 6 Pack
I had a parade of mice in my old house that were not intimidated by my two Newfoundlands, who by the way, ignored them as well. In fact I actually saw one run across the kitchen floor and while I stood screaming, the dog just sat there and looked at me and failed to notice that the mouse was trying wedge itself under her rump to hide. I tried the humane traps first. But then you have to get rid of the mouse. I took them across the street, but they came back. I drove them to the park and set them loose in the bushes, but there was a rustling where the mouse ran in and then total silence; something else ate that mouse as soon as I let it go. So what was the point?
Finally I went to these traps based upon the research and reviews. They kill quickly and humanely, they are easy to set and re-use. When I moved out of that house, I tossed the traps out. Big mistake. Guess what's scrabbling in the walls of my new house?
So I'm back to get another 6 pack.
Well, I'm not happy to have to dispatch mice to their Great Reward, but as opposed to welcoming in vermin and associated diseases into my home? It's a no brainer. If it has to be them or me.. well, So Long, Mickey.
