5.0 out of 5 stars Intrusion by arlene kay November 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
A must read for the sophisticated mystery reader. Breakneck pacing, non-stop action and vivid characterizations make this one of the year's best. Intrusion may be a debut novel, but it's up there with today's best. Move over, mystery writers... there's a new sheriff in town!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Beach Read February 29, 2012
Format:Paperback
Here's a book that successfully marries Romance and Suspense. The two genres get equal time, and if you suspend belief a bit (well, quite a bit) you can have a lot of fun with the narrator who is a tall, beautiful lawyer pining away for her deceased husband and her girlie sidekick, an exec in the makeup biz. When their grad school pal dies in what can only be murder, the two gals get deep into the business he left behind....Enter a suspicious but very handsome doctor, and, hearts are in turmoil, etc. Written by a savvy woman who knows how to grab your attention!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling Ride February 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a great romantic thriller. Totally unpredictable and definitely very well written. The author does an excellent job of developing the heroine from an introverted widow to a vivacious crime-solving diva. Well, Betts is not a diva, but her partner Candy is. Yet together the two manage to sift through the maze of clues to find their best friend's murderer. The dialogue is spot on, with witty conversations taking place between Candy, Betts, and her romantic interest, Lucian. The prose in the book is beautiful, colorful metaphors and creative similies abound. Great plot. Great story. And even better characters that are unforgettable. Kudos for Intrusion!

2.0 out of 5 stars Are all the reviewers pals of the author? April 22, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Intrusion is a free download on Kindle- due to the multiple 5 star reviews, I decided to check it out. One reviewer says something like "If you like Janet Evanovich, you'll like this book!" Either he hasn't read anything by Janet Evanovich, or he didn't actually read THIS book. Elizabeth, the female protagonist, is not yet thirty, yet everyone calls her "Mrs. Buckley" throughout the book. She is about as tightly wound as Stephanie Plum is loosely competent. The characters are not well-defined or sympathetic, and I'm about 3/4 of the way through and having a really hard time caring enough to finish it.

Anyhow, it clearly appeals to the other 14 people who already reviewed it and gave it 5 stars, but it's not my cup of tea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mystery to the end. December 12, 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Well done, Arlene Kay. INTRUSION kept me hooked like a good mystery should. Several suspects heading for the finish line kept me wondering. Just when I thought I had one nailed, another seemed a better bet. Mighty fine, first time out of the gate, Arlene. Keep them coming.

1.0 out of 5 stars long. drawn out, boring April 26, 2012
By WH
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Usually when I buy a mystery/thriller I finish it in a day or two because I just can't put it down. I actually fell asleep while reading this one. Took me a week to plow through it. Characters don't hold any interest, plot was so-so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Murder on the Bio-tech Express November 30, 2011
By DaveL
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Arlene Kay's smart and sassy new mystery takes us on a fast paced trip through murder, mayhem, glamour, wealth and privilege in Boston's world of cosmetics and bio-tech. Colorful characters jump from the page as the reader tries to sort through the suspects, all while rooting for "Betts" to get her life back together, solve the murder and find a way to love again. A great read.
