I purchased this product after using a "mom and pop" style POS system ("POS So Easy"), combined with an internet credit card processor ("PC Charge") for seven years. I wanted to update, and I wanted to be able to use the QB data compatibility. I have used QB and QB assisted payroll for the same seven years.
We are not computer amateurs, and we aren't the extreme case -- it is the product, not us.
This product does not work as described.
This product repeatedly fails.
In three weeks, I have encountered, among other things, incorrect credit card processing by Intuit, double, triple and even quadruple charges to customer's cards with no record in the system that this occurred, broken hardware (the $450 printer broke after three weeks -- 3 hours on the phone to get it replaced), etc., etc., etc..
Altogether, I have spent dozens and dozens of hours trying to work out problems with their system.
Take a hint -- they call this POS (Point of Sale) CRP (Cash Register Plus). It is a POS and it is CRP, but not in the way they intended it!
Stay Away!!!!

Cash Register Plus is a free download from Intuit. It is a first release of a new product. It is slow, buggy, and limited in features/functions. Help messages are not helpful. Some of the buttons go nowhere and do nothing. Navigation is not intuitive. The GUI is non-standard and cumbersome, for example, the screens consume the entire window and can not be minimized so it turns your PC into a single use computer. You have to logout to get to any other applications. I don't think the developers understand the basic concept of MS Windows.

This software is a really really bad joke. First it would not work with an out of box hardware solution that was touted as a turnkey solution. We had to return HP printer for Epson to get reciepts to work. Their support is terrible. No one will answer questions on their help forum. The software is Java based so printer drivers are hard coded so can't use standard HW drivers. If you started out with an earlier version and want to upgrade to version 5 they make you upgrade v2, v3, v4 before you can install v5. After 2 weeks was finally able to get it to work as advertised, albeit very slow. Now, after 1 year, it has slowed down to the point that it takes almost 5 minutes to log in new users during shift changes. Again, no help at all on the forums after leaving a post there for 2 weeks.
