The Best Album during Fantacy Years, July 30, 2003
This review is from: Intuition (Audio CD)
Though so many people, especially in Japan, love to talk about Bill Evans "inter-playing" with his bassist and drummer, I find this duo format superior to the trio and solo format, because the absence of drums focuses and clarifies Bill's piano playing a lot more and the accompaniment of the base makes the music more enjoyable than what could be, at times even by jazz masters, a boring solo performance. Among the ten superbly selected and performed tunes "A Face Without A Name" and "Falling Grace" are my most favorites. They are breathtakingly beautiful. This K-2 remastered version by JVC provides far better sound quality in terms of clarity and depth than Fantasy issue.
