As a fairly new art quilter, this book gives me practical attainable steps to increase my confidence and abilities. The exercises are well thought out and open ended enough to allow my inner "artist" to emerge. The photos and quilts used in the book are beautiful and I find myself returning to them as refences. I love this book. I love that it has taken me farther down the art quilt path. An invaluable resource. You will love it!!!

Jean Well's books are the embodiment of her teaching style and she's hit the mark with Intuitive Color & Design. She takes you step by step through the process - sharing her photographs of nature, architecture and color that are the inspiration for her quilts and then does a fantastic job of guiding you through her piecing techniques. This book is worth every penny and is absolutely the perfect gift for quilters and artists alike.

I have taken two series of color and design classes (10 classes in all) with Jean Wells and this book is an embodiment of those wonderful classes. It clearly reflects her voice. It is a well written reference that you will turn to repeatedly. Have fun!

Intuitive Color & Design is not only an inspiring book with beautiful photographs and gorgeous quilts, it is a valuable resource for the elements of design. I found Jean Well's sketches informative, seeing how she captured the essence of photographs she took and then translated them to fabric. As an artist I found her Porportion Rule very helpful and learned from her interpretation from 'realistic' images to abstract design. This book is clearly written, comprehensive and insightful. I highly recommend it as a valuable addition to your art library.

This is NOT a book to be purchased and stashed on a shelf. It is one of four which I keep right at my fingertips for a quick review or inspiration. The book is packed with ideas and techniques. Jean's fresh perspective on color and the color assignments alone are worth the price of the book! In "Intuitive Color & Design", Jean invites us along on her quilt journey, and we are changed, challenged and inspired. The book is a must-have for anyone who wants to try her/his own hand at quilt design.

I've just started diving into this book and I love it! I don't consider myself an artist, but I'm finding the way that Jean describes the process as easy to comprehend. The photos are beautiful and the quilts spectacular. I'm a long time quilter and was ready to take quilting to a different level. This will certainly get me there.

I just received this book after finally ordering it. I hesitated because I have limited resources for purchasing books, and I usually check them out from the library.

This book is MUCH more inspiring than I'd hoped. It is eye candy - the images from nature that she uses as inspiration for her quilts have really gotten my creative juices flowing. I keep telling my family "I LOVE this book! I'm so glad I bought it!"

The book includes assignments to work through in the areas of color, design, tools & techniques, and unconventional finishing techniques. It is a workshop in book form. It is challenging and inspiring at the same time. Jean Wells uses these assignments to stretch your imagination and skills - this truly makes it an artistic adventure.

I HIGHLY recommend this book as resource for other quilters/artists as another tool in your quilting toolbox! I am pleased I made the choice to add this to my own library!

Jean Wells' book INTUITIVE COLOR AND & DESIGN is made up of assignments to help the quilter learn the techniques required to make quilts (from very small to large) without using repetitive patterns. It is exciting to read and to follow the lessons. It has made me want to know more about this form of creating art with fabric.

I've had this book for almost a year and find myself going back to it time after time to jumpstart my creative juices. It's a good addition to the library of any quilter interested in art or freeform quilting.

I love the principles Jean Wells teaches in her book and I have been able to make some great projects as a result of the techniques I've learned from her.
