The BEST book for learning to read tarot!!!,
By Julie Alexander (Murray, Kentucky USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Intuitive Tarot: A Metaphysical Approach to Reading the Tarot Cards (Paperback)
I bought my first deck twelve years ago and avidly began studying them. I read numerous books, and none of them taught you how to read the cards like this book does. It teaches you how to tap your intuitive powers and to be able to read tarot, instead of giving you another conflicting interpretation to memorize. If your only going to buy one tarot book, make this one it!!!

I purchased this book after I saw the reviews of the book and was totally satisfied with this book.
Doing tarot readings might be 'fun' as some people say - and they are quite joyful experiences if taken that way. But what happens if you ignore what is really happening on the spiritual plane? This book outlines what happens in a normal tarot card reading - where the reader is connected to the Higher Powers and is seeking guidance for oneself or for others. It gives you enough of background and understanding of the theories and beliefs, no matter what your religious orientation. I have come to appreciate what intuition can do when I do readings for people - the love and healing one can give to the clients while doing readings cannot be explained in words. I like the way the book stresses on the prayer before the reading. My teacher always encouraged me to make my own prayer. However, I would also like to stress upon ending the reading with a prayer as well. It is equally important to do that, to thank the energies which come to help us do the readings and set them free! Therefore I especially liked that part in the book. And the part where one is advised to wash one's hands and face after a reading - a practice I have always followed instinctively since I began reading professionally. Again, I would like to state that this book is a wonderful Guide to all of us who connect to the Higher Powers to help and heal others via the Tarot cards. Thanks for writing such a lovely book!

I love this book and recommend it to all of my friends who are learning to use Tarot cards for personal introspection. There is a very positive aspect to their interpretations (they do NOT have a Reverse read for each card). There is also a definite Christian approach to the interpretations as well - a lot about your spirituality.
This is very easy to use, features pictures of the basic cards so that you can see the symbols as they are explained. While I have the Goddess deck, and always read that deck's particular interpretations, I always consult this book as well.

This book was a real delight for me to read. In a sense, I almost was sad when he started to talk about how to read the tarot as I enjoyed his views on metaphysics, law of attraction and other such topics.
But that isn't to say the tarot part is bad. It is wonderfully written and is such so that after you finish reading the book, you'll understand you never really needed to read it. He encourages the use of your subconscious mind and trusting your intuition for card meanings. While he does say that knowing the "standard definition" of each card is good...the best and most powerful readings come when you listen to your "inner voice." I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in metaphysics, intuitive readings/tarot readings or just to enjoy a read. If there were anything negative about the book, it would be that it is a bit short. But this is because he encourages intuition and teaches you basic meanings while showing methods on how to tap into your own inner guidance. At $10 it's an excellent book that will give you excellent mileage.

~thorough guidance to the tool of your choice~,

This lovely slim volume gave me a step-by-step guidance on how to develop the right mindset for Tarot readings (and life!), and how to proceed with the reading including such valuable parts as grounding, prayer, working together with the client and your and her Higher Selves, clearing the accidental "garbage" picked up during the reading, developing intuition and self-empowerment and so much more! "Our purpose in working with the Tarot cards is to use this point of focus to develop greater attunement with our own higher wisdom and, if we choose, to use this open doorway to help others." (p.33) I feel like transcribing a half of this book into a Moleskine notebook and carrying around with me to always be prepared for a reading! And here is one of the most simple and profound truths that we tend to forget when running all over trying to find help outside of ourselves, thus giving away our power and, in a way, hoping to escape responsibility: "TRUTH AND ALL OF YOUR ANSWERS ARE WITHING YOU - NOT THE CARDS! THE CARDS MERELY PROVIDE A POINT OF FOCUS THAT ASSISTS YOU IN ACCESSING INNER TRUTH!!!" (p.5) I simply cannot recommend this book, which also contains some simple yet practical layouts and suggested meanings for the cards, as well as several example spreads, highly enough.
