About the Author

The spotlight on Rumiko Takahashi's career began in 1978 when she won an honorable mention in Shogakukan's annual New Comic Artist Contest for Those Selfish Aliens. Later that same year, her boy-meets-alien comedy series, Urusei Yatsura, was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. This phenomenally successful manga series was adapted into anime format and spawned a TV series and half a dozen theatrical-release movies, all incredibly popular in their own right. Takahashi followed up the success of her debut series with one blockbuster hit after another--Maison Ikkoku ran from 1980 to 1987, Ranma 1/2 from 1987 to 1996, and Inuyasha from 1996 to 2008. Other notable works include Mermaid Saga, Rumic Theater, and One-Pound Gospel.

5.0 out of 5 stars I WANT MORE SWORD, BROTHER, February 12, 2006
This review is from: InuYasha, Vol. 7 (Paperback)
Generally, when Inuyasha's brother Sessho-maru, wants something, he's willing to kill pretty much anyone, especially his half-brother. And Sessho-maru does want something. He wants Tetsusaiga, Inuyasha's powerful demon-slaying sword. But because he is a full demon, the sword will reject his touch, but when Naraku offers him the use of a human arm embedded with a Shikon Jewel fragment to replace that of the one Inuyasha cut from him, he sets off to claim the sword as his own. We also learn the possible origin of Naraku, a tale rooted in a time 50 years ago when Inuyasha and Kikyo were in love.

Rumiko Takahashi continues this classic series with more action tempered with revelations and great improvisitory storytelling. The drawing is superb and the rivalry of the two brothers and the tragedy of Kikyo continue to rise up to critical mass. The great strength of this manga is that the story does not get old because the characters are so greatly imagined. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREATVOLUME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, June 15, 2004
By
#1inuyashafan (Fredericksburg, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: InuYasha, Vol. 7 (Paperback)
This is a great volume. It starts off with Sesshomaru making a deal with Naraku(Naraku giving Sesshomaru a human arm equipped with a Shikon Jewel Shard so that Sesshomaru can grip the Tetsusaiga to destroy Inuyasha). While Inuyasha,Kagome,Shippou, and Miroku are resting, Kagome feels the aura of a Shikon Jewel Shard, only for them to find Sesshomaru on the shoulder of an ogre. Soon after, the battle begins between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, and Sesshomaru taking the Tetsusaiga from Inuyasha, and HOLDING IT!?!? Can Inuyasha ever defeat his full-demon brother? Will he ever get his sword back? And, why can't Kagome go back to Inuyasha's time after their "alone" time? Also, how did Naraku become, well Naraku? Read this book and find out.
C U SOON! ^-^
