5.0 out of 5 stars InuYasha and Kagome just can't get a break, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Inuyasha 43: Demons in the Modern Age (DVD)
Poor guys... demons seem to follow them everywhere, and that includes Kagome's era! Kagome is participating in her school's culture festival, but can't seem to concentrate on anything she has to do because three demons are on the loose! Inuyasha even interupts a play to kill one... which is hilarious...

This is a must see!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars DEMONS AT SCHOOL, July 15, 2006
This review is from: Inuyasha 43: Demons in the Modern Age (DVD)
After fighting Naraku and letting him escape for what seems like the millionth time, Kagome is ready to get back to her own time for a bit. She takes some tasty dried meat snacks with her for her family, not knowing that what she thinks is beef jerky is actually dried demon meat! It's ok to eat, as long as you don't boil it. If you do, it reverts back to its original demon form! The trouble starts when Kagome's grandfather boils some and then Kagome uses some to cook a School Festival dish. Luckily, Inuyasha has come looking for her, but how can he use his powers in the modern age without revealing his identity? After that, back in the feudal era, our heroes have to fight a pig demon that is kidnapping all the beautiful women in the area and then magically enslaving them with magic circlets to become his brides...including Kagome! Sounds like he'd make a good buddy for Miroku.

I appreciated this dvd's humor and lightheartedness after all the angst and death and battles of the last couple of volumes. But 43 just left me a bit underwhelmed in the end, because while it was amusing, it wasn't really funny. I think it would be funnier if more episodes were set in Kagome's time, especially putting Inuyasha in 20th century clothes and interacting with her at school. So, while I appreciated what the staff were trying to do with these episodes, they didn't pull it off and so they seemed more like filler than episodes which showed more of the character's personalities or advanced the story. And how is Kagome ever going to be promoted to the next grade? She misses so much school, since she's met Inuyasha, her IQ must have gone down a few notches.

Extras: The usual sorry extras from Viz. Japanese commercials and art galleries. That's it. That's how it's always been. Never interviews or special footage. Nothing. Nil. Nada.
