Editorial Reviews

The four Inu-Yasha theatrical features pit the cast of Rumiko Takahashi's "feudal fairy tale" against new foes: The search for the shards of the Shikon Jewel falls by the wayside as Kagome, Inu-Yasha, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango tackle these supernatural enemies. In Affections Touching Across Time (2001), the moth-demon Menomaru seeks to reclaim the powers of his father, who was defeated by Inu-Yasha's father during the attempted Mongol invasion of 1274. The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass (2002) evokes the Japanese legend "The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter," when Kaguya appears, claiming to be the legendary Moon Princess. Swords of an Honorable Ruler (2003) reveals that Inu-Yasha's father, the Great Dog Demon, possessed not two but three swords: Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga, and Sounga, which are linked to Earth, Heaven, and Hell, respectively. When the Sounga is accidentally freed, its aura raises the soul of Takemaru, the samurai who murdered Inu-Yasha's mother. The villains in Fire on Mystic Island (2004) are the Four War Gods, powerful demons on the island of Houraijima, who preserve and augment their power by sacrificing half-demon children. The later films are darker and more violent, although the directors balance the mayhem against familiar comedic elements, especially Kagome and Inu-Yasha squabbling. The features all reflect larger budgets than the television series, as the filmmakers employ a variety of CG effects: explosions, lightning bolts, insects, monsters, and strangling tree roots. Affections Touching Across Time stands out as the handsomest of the films, with designs that suggest the woodblock prints of Kawase Hasui. The set includes CDs of the movie soundtracks and a booklet on the traditional Japanese instruments they feature, although more information on composer Kaoru Wada would have been nice. A must-have for Inu-Yasha fans. (Rated Teen: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol use, risqué humor) --Charles Solomon

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY complete boxset! November 2, 2007
By David
This is a very nicely put together boxset. Perfect for any fan. I've uploaded some pictures to give everyone an idea as to what's inside.

The set comes in a wooden box. The box comes complete with all 4 movies and their accompanying. A pamphlet shows the movie chapters. There's an additional little booklet with the music tracks listed, info on instruments, and music credits.

Very nice indeed. It would make a wonderful holiday gift this year.

**Keep in mind, while it is expensive, the set does contain all 4 movies and the 4 soundtracks. Furthermore, keep in mind that it is just about impossible to find the soundtracks individually, new, or at a decent price.
This deal is your best bet and guaranteed to make any Inuyasha fan happy. :)

Its just made so nice. I was amazed when i got mine in the mail. Out of all the Inuyasha items I've bought this is my favorite.

The Inuyasha Complete Deluxe Movie Box Set includes all four of the Inuyasha movies: Affections Touching Across Time, The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass, Swords of an Honorable Ruler, and Fire on the Mystic Island, as well as the soundtrack CDs that accompanied the release of all four of these films in Japan.

The outer box of the set is wooden and has a small slipcover to put over the box. When you open the wooden box, there is a cardboard box inside. This cardboard box has an outer cardboard sleeve to protect it. When you remove the cardboard sleeve, it reveals that the cardboard box has four double-sided and one single-sided plastic tray inside to hold the DVDs and the CDs. The front of the first double-sided tray has a CD-shaped piece of cardboard on it, which has the name of the set on it and plays up the contents inside the set.

The box set also comes with two booklets. The first booklet has the promotional picture for each of the films, as well as lists the chapters for each of the movie DVDs. The second booklet is fourteen pages long, and is about the music from the Inuyasha movies. The first few pages of the booklet contain the tracklistings for each of the soundtrack CDs included in the box set. Then, it goes into four pages of pictures and explanations of the various instruments used for recording the music for the films. The final two pages of the booklet lists the music staff and the CD staff for each of the movies.

Overall, the Inuyasha Complete Movie Box Set is an economical way to acquire all four of the Inuyasha feature films. It's also the only way to acquire the soundtrack CDs in America without having to import them from Japan. At retail outlets, I have seen this set sell for anywhere between $30 and $80.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good deal! March 6, 2012
By Raul R.
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
The set comes in an attractive wooden case and inside is the DVD flip case itself which includes all four movies with languages in Japanese and English languages (with subtitles also) and four soundtrack discs. I am happy with this purchase as I am a big Inuyasha fan and so is my wife. We have all the seasons with the exception of the Final Act which is not yet available. This pretty much completes the set and is worth the money. For all four movies and all four soundtracks this is a very good deal. If you are looking to purchase the movies this is a great option and is recommended.
