Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Based on a manga by Rumiko Takahashi, Inu-Yasha (2000) melds elements of Japanese folklore and familiar anime devices into a deftly imaginative blend of humor and adventure. Kagome, a modern girl caught in the intrigues of an alternate reality, and the half-demon Inu-Yasha continue squabbling as they search for fragments of the Sacred Jewel. Inu-Yasha defeats his older brother Sesshomaru, who appears in the alternate guises of a mannered dandy and a monstrous wolf, and wins the Tetsusaiga, their father's magic sword. But Kagome discovers the trick that makes it an effective weapon. Together, they defeat a toad monster and take on the powerful Thunder Brothers. The bickering principals recall the fractious Ranma and Akane, but these characters are less farcical and have more at stake. The result is an extremely entertaining series that never falls into cliché. (Unrated: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery) --Charles Solomon

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Great!!!, February 10, 2003
This review is from: Inuyasha - Fathers and Sons (Vol. 3) (DVD)
This DVD has episodes 7-10.
Episode 7
Inuyasha claims the Tetsusaiga, a powerful sword left to him by his father, and finishes the fight with his older brother Sesshomaru.
Episode 8
Inuyasha and Kagome help free a local lord from a demonic curse, that turned him into a toad-like creature.
Episode 9
Inuyasha and Kagome get a new friend, Shippo (a small child fox demon), who looks to the duo to help him avenge his family, who was killed by the Thunder Brothers.
Episode 10
This is the second episode that completes episode 9. Shippo is able to avenge his family, and Inuyasha and Kagome get a new travelling companion, and a new friend.

These are all really good episodes. This is a really great series, and the animation is wonderful. You can really connect with the characters, and have fun watching as they go along, trying to collect the shards of the Shikon No Tama (the sacred jewel). Hey, it's definately my favorite anime. I would recommend this series to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Buy, July 2, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Inuyasha - Fathers and Sons (Vol. 3) (DVD)
In this DVD Sesshoumaru changes himself into a gigantic white dog demon, complete with red eyes & poison saliva. Also we meet Nobunaga, a clumsy dimwit with a monkey on his head. Nobunaga is head over heels in love with a princess, whose husband has been turned into a toad,& who has been taking young girls from villages & sealing them inside frog egg things so he can steal their souls. And then in the last episode Shippou appears (he's so cute)along with the thunder brothers, who killed Shippou's family. What makes things wrose is that the youngest Thunder Brother wears Shippou's father around his waist. Poor Shippou.

This review is from: Inuyasha - Fathers and Sons (Vol. 3) (DVD)
How was it that Kagome was able to pull out Tetsusaiga when the demon brothers couldn't? Sesshomaru transforms into his true form as Inuyasha makes a last stand with sword in hand, but how is he going to make the sword transform for him? Then Inuyasha and Kagome have to battle a soul devouring toad along side a love-sick, clutzy samurai to save the life of a princess. Shippo joins the group in the third episode on the DVD, but what's Inuyasha to do when Kagome is kidnapped by the Thunder Brothers?
