It's Great!!!,

This review is from: Inuyasha - Fathers and Sons (Vol. 3) (DVD)
This DVD has episodes 7-10. Episode 7 Inuyasha claims the Tetsusaiga, a powerful sword left to him by his father, and finishes the fight with his older brother Sesshomaru. Episode 8 Inuyasha and Kagome help free a local lord from a demonic curse, that turned him into a toad-like creature. Episode 9 Inuyasha and Kagome get a new friend, Shippo (a small child fox demon), who looks to the duo to help him avenge his family, who was killed by the Thunder Brothers. Episode 10 This is the second episode that completes episode 9. Shippo is able to avenge his family, and Inuyasha and Kagome get a new travelling companion, and a new friend. These are all really good episodes. This is a really great series, and the animation is wonderful. You can really connect with the characters, and have fun watching as they go along, trying to collect the shards of the Shikon No Tama (the sacred jewel). Hey, it's definately my favorite anime. I would recommend this series to anyone.

In this DVD Sesshoumaru changes himself into a gigantic white dog demon, complete with red eyes & poison saliva. Also we meet Nobunaga, a clumsy dimwit with a monkey on his head. Nobunaga is head over heels in love with a princess, whose husband has been turned into a toad,& who has been taking young girls from villages & sealing them inside frog egg things so he can steal their souls. And then in the last episode Shippou appears (he's so cute)along with the thunder brothers, who killed Shippou's family. What makes things wrose is that the youngest Thunder Brother wears Shippou's father around his waist. Poor Shippou.

How was it that Kagome was able to pull out Tetsusaiga when the demon brothers couldn't? Sesshomaru transforms into his true form as Inuyasha makes a last stand with sword in hand, but how is he going to make the sword transform for him? Then Inuyasha and Kagome have to battle a soul devouring toad along side a love-sick, clutzy samurai to save the life of a princess. Shippo joins the group in the third episode on the DVD, but what's Inuyasha to do when Kagome is kidnapped by the Thunder Brothers?

I have not watched this DVD but have seen all the episodes on it, I love this DVD because of the conflict between Inuyasha and his older brother Sesshoumaru. All fans of Inuyasha are in for a treat with this DVD. Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru duel fir their father's legendary sword the Tetsaiga. I won't reveal who wins, also, all you Inuyasha and Kagome fans will be happy to see there's a touch of their romance in this DVD, nothing too big though.

I bought this DVD for myself awhile back and just bought one for my best friend's birthday and she loves it! We both have been big fans of the InuYasha series since we were young teenagers and this DVD has the cartoon/anime in excellent quality and comes with special features of line art and the original InuYasha promos! A great satisfaction buy for the fellow InuYasha fan!

As Inuyasha and Sesshomaru fight in the tomb of their father, Inuyasha desperately tries to figure out how to activate the power of Tetsusaiga, a demon-killing sword that could change the outcome of their battle. In the next episode, Inuyasha and Kagome continue their search for the Shikon shards, leading them to a bumbling would be rescuer of a princess. A princess who just might be betrothed to a demon-possessed prince! Lastly, we up the cute factor by introducing Shippo, a young magical fox that takes the form of a human kid, and is looking for revenge on the Thunder Brothers. These brothers are powerful demons that have deadly skills that, like Inuyasha and Kagome, are looking for the crystal shards. And killing anyone who get in their way.
What I like about this show is that it doesn't rest on its haunches. It really builds on itself and is inventive by introducing more great characters and using the masterful designs of the original manga. And besides, it's funny. Especially the scenes between Inuyasha and Shippo. But the show isn't afraid to let the blood fly either. Great series. Skimpy extras as usual, art gallery and promo videos.

Great Program!,
This review is from: Inuyasha - Fathers and Sons (Vol. 3) (DVD)
"Inuyasha" is whitty, charming and sophisticated - especially when considering the age of the characters! As a Japanese anime purest, I was originally skeptical as to the quality of the English dubbed version. But, I was very pleasantly suprised. Although I agree with my peers that the pronunciation of many of the character's names leaves a lot to be desired, I don't feel that anything is lost in the translation. The characters remain fresh and surprising, the plots are as convoluted as they were written, and the ever-so-English sarcasm finds a worthy home in the delightful, and often hysterical banter. For a simple cartoon, "Inuyasha" harmoniously blends all the aspects of a great romantic comedy-drama. There's something for everyone to enjoy.

Before I begin, there's something I must say: the "Inu-Yasha" DVDs are not edited! Repeat, they are not edited! Many people are under the assumption that the edited version found on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block is what Viz is releasing. Rest assured that is not the case. I have seen the original Japanese versions of the show and there is no edited material on these DVDs. With that said, let's begin the review of the third "Inu-Yasha" DVD, "Fathers and Sons".When Inu-Yasha, the stubborn and short-tempered half-demon, and his elder full-demon brother Sesshoumaru meet inside their father's grave, they begin to battle it out for possession of their father's precious sword, the Tetsusaiga. Who will inherit this mighty demon blade, said to possess the power to slay 100 demons in a single swing? Then, beginning their hunt for the fragments of the Shikon no Tama, Inu-Yasha, Kagome, and Myoga run into Nobunaga, a young man hoping to find and rescue a princess from her betrothed lord, who has allegedly gone mad. Is this the work of a demon, and could a Shikon shard be involved? Then, the group meets Shippo, a young fox demon who steals Kagome's shards in hopes to lure Hiten and Manten, the Thunder Brothers, who killed his father. But when circumstances cause Kagome to fall into the Thunder Brothers' hands, can Shippo do anything to help her, especially with an irritated Inu-Yasha breathing down his neck? With the end of the Tetsusaiga story arc begins the main task of the series: collect the shards of the Shikon Jewel before they fall into evil hands. Some people may think this is where the series gets dull and formulaic, as collection quests are hardly an original idea in anime. However, Rumiko Takahashi, the author of the original manga, manages to craft intelligent and refreshing spins in her stories, adding in her unique humor and unmatched wit. In all honesty, the real meat of the series doesn't happen until much later; the episodes that lead up to that point are used to set the mood and introduce important characters. But these three episodes are hardly dull, as they're well crafted and do justice to their source material. People just need to realize that further down the road there lies something even better. Visually, "Inu-Yasha" continues to dazzle with its stunning art direction. Determined to do justice to Takahashi's newest series, the show's creators went all out to give it a solid production. Character models are terrific, giving substance to their manga counterparts. Movement is smooth and flowing, and backgrounds are rich with detail. Rarely does the anime make the viewer feel cheated out of some level of quality; the show's quality is high enough already. Music-wise, Kaoru Wada still manages to weave his emotionally charged masterpieces. It's rare that someone can create music that defines a series perfectly, yet Kaoru accomplishes this task beautifully. He rightfully deserves comparison to other Japanese composer greats such as Yoko Kanno ("Cowboy Bebop", "Escaflowne"). If you've remained faithful to the dub through its slightly above average performances, your patience is beginning to bear fruit. Richard Cox has now firmly established himself as the English Inu-Yasha. Moneca Stori has finally gotten into her character, although she still needs to work on her emotional subtleties. Paul Dobson (Myoga), David Kaye (Sesshoumaru), and Don Brown (Jaken) all give admirable performances. And Jillian Michaels does an acceptable job as Shippo. As for guest appearances, Brad Swaile does a wonderful job as the well-meant but clumsy Nobunaga. And both Andrew Francis and Alvin Sanders give superb performances as the deadly Thunder Brothers Hiten and Manten, respectively. Even the script is getting noticable better, although it still likes to take liberties with the original dialogue now and then. Some may find scriptwriter Trish Ledoux's use of cliches and catchphrases annoying, but thankfully they're not as painful as they were in episode 4. Still, if you'd rather watch the show with faithful dialogue, you can always watch the sub. Overall, "Fathers and Sons" continues to take us down the road that leads to an incredible journey. There will be bumps along the way, but the ride will most certainly be worth it. Rarely has a story such as "Inu-Yasha" surfaced, and it's very unlikely one like it will appear. Very recommended.
