Editorial Reviews

Contains Episodes 31-33 In search of medicinal herbs to help Sango and Kirara after being poisoned by Naraku during their last battle, Inuyasha and Kagome encounter a giant half-demon named Jinenji, who exists peacefully with his mother, tending herbs. Because of his great size and their own fear, the villagers are quick to accuse Jinenji when corpses of villagers are found. Inuyasha, seeing something of his own history reflected in the villagers’ treatment of Jinenji, decides to stay and find the real culprit. Later, while continuing their journey in search of Naraku, the group encounters a mysterious mountain, surrounded by deadly miasma. Suspecting Naraku’s handiwork, they travel further inside the mountain, eventually discovering hordes of demons trapped inside. Inuyasha, ignoring Miroku’s warning, becomes trapped in a deadly spell Naraku is working. The sudden appearance of Kikyo only makes a confusing situation that much worse

5.0 out of 5 stars I CAN'T BREATH IN YOUR MIASMA, October 1, 2005
This review is from: Inuyasha: Into the Miasma, Volume 11 (DVD)
In search of herbs to help Sango recover from the wounds she received in their last battle with Naraku, Inuyasha and company set out to battle a demon who specializes in herbal medicine, only to find he is being blamed for the murder of some of the local populace. Much to their surprise, he turns out to be a gentle giant right out of Mice and Men. So where is the demon that has been chowing down on the villagers? The second and third episodes on the DVD concern a powerful miasma of demonic potency created in a dormant volcano by hundreds of demons battling to the death. And Inuyasha could get sucked right into the middle of it. Meanwhile, Kikyo returns to the story as she is called to heal Naraku, not knowing that this is the being that caused her death and Inuyasha's.

Every time I think Inuyasha is going to run out of ideas or become repetitive, Rumiko Takahashi impresses me again with her constantly evolving storylines and strong characterizations! Kikyo especially continues to evolve, moving from innocent and loving to cold and calculating as she realizes that Inuyasha's heart has moved towards Kagome and away from her. But after all, she is just a shadow, which makes it even sadder. Inuyasha cannot help but still have feelings for her. I don't know how much longer the Naraku storyline can go on. He's beginning to become like a Batman villain, in that he runs away or escapes and there is never a final confrontation. I keep on expecting him to yell "I'll get you next time, Inuyasha!" But still, this is an excellent show and deserves its popularity!

As usual, extras are all but nonexistent: line art, Japanese promos.

Naraku uses a fuko spell to create a new body. Then he captures Kikyo. While Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango and Shippo are trapped in their worst nightmares, Kikyo steals the jewel from Kagome and gives it to Naraku!!!

And the plot thickens...
