A simply wonderful collection of music,

My mother got this CD for me a few years ago. Inuyasha was still in only the third season or so (in English on Adult Swim), so I was unfamiliar with most of the songs - not to mention that they never show any of the opening songs on TV anyway. Despite all that, I loved this CD from the start, and still listen to it frequently today. Inuyasha's typically above-average songs are transformed here into orchestral masterpieces that are true to the originals while enhancing every melody.
A great example is "Every Heart" - which brings attention to the notes of an already wonderful song. Other songs are transformed dramatically, but always for the better. "Change The World" is greatly slowed down to become a grand opening piece which does a great job of introducing the CD. "Owarinai Yume" becomes a marvelously upbeat battle theme, while "I Am" complements it with an inspiringly victorious sound (though a soft, introspective section makes up the middle). "Dearest" sounds excellent, but even so it comes slightly short (in my opinion), of "Fukai Mori," which follows it. "Fukai Mori" approaches perfection in any state, and this version doesn't disappoint. "Shinjitsu no Uta" and "Grip!" are nice, but didn't leave much of an impression on me. That might have been different if I were more familiar with the originals (though I loved "Change the World," "Every Heart," Owarinai Yume," and "I Am" without ever hearing the originals). The last regular song, "My Will," is a sweet and beautiful piece, yet again true to the original. But that's not all - we're also treated to a marvelous rendition of Inuyasha's main theme, which fluctuates between stirring and exciting, and beautiful and poignant (both good places to be). Finally, some suggestions - first of all, shop around. Fifty dollars is a little much when it's easy to find one under fifteen. Secondly, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pair it with "Best of Inuyasha," which has all these songs (and a few more) in their original conditions. Aside from making for interesting comparisons, it's quite possible that a song on one album will make you love it on the other. I'm not sure I'd like the original "I Am" quite so much if I hadn't fallen for the orchestral version first. Finally, this is probably the best Inuyasha music CD out there, at least for the time being. I say this both for its high quality (a lot of thought and effort went into adapting these songs) and for its more general appeal - that is, people who don't care for foreign music and singing will have nothing to complain about here. However, it will always be appreciated most by its target audience - dedicated Inuyasha fans. You don't have to be one, but if you are, you'll love it even more. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It's worth it.

Absolutely amazing- breathtaking.,

I was a bit dubious about buying this CD- partly because I liked my Inuyasha themes as they were- with lyrics and a J-pop sound- and partly because I couldn't really imagine them getting symphonic treatment while still capturing the spirit of the anime. However, I was caught out by this incredible collection of music. On this CD, all of those well-known opening and closing themes from Inuyasha get a makeover: each track is recreated by a different Japanese composer, and they are each made into an amazing mixture of new sounds and melodies, showcasing the tunes you will recognise right away. The first track, 'Change the World', is my favourite. It's just astounding. The upbeat, catchy pop song is turned into a breathtaking, stirring piece that is a complete surprise in the best of ways. When the chorus melody suddenly rises from the new introduction, I can't help grinning- it just sounds so good that it inspires me every time I listen to it. Another one I really enjoy on here is 'Fukai Mori'- it has the classical feel of the other tracks, but keeps the guitar and drums of the original version, so it never loses its easygoing, upbeat tone. Other excellent tracks include 'Every Heart', 'Dearest', 'Grip!' (I was really impressed with this version of that track) and 'My Will', which has some excellent strings at the chorus. Overall, it's just an incredible CD, whether you like the music of Inuyasha or just enjoy beautifully composed and well performed music. I never would have thought symphonic versions of the Inuyasha themes could be this good. I haven't stopped listening to it since I bought it!

When I first started watching InuYasha, the one element that captured me the strongest was the music for the show! It is absolutely beautiful. With that in mind, I began searching everywhere for CD's that contained the music. 'Wind' I feel, was my best choice to go with. From how the music is poised, one can expect a battle to shortly unravel, a romantic interlude to take place, or a comical farce about to happen. I was pleased to see Kaoru Wada, the man behind the music of the TV series, arrange three of the songs on the CD and compose one other. I am quickly becoming an ardent fan of his work. The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra is not your ordinary orchestra. They pep some of the songs up on this album that leave me in awe. The song that they do their finest work on would have to be track 10 - InuYasha's Theme - if you will. If you own any of the DVD's, it's the song that plays during the menu scene. Anyway, I push the repeat button on my CD player when it reaches this powerful rendition of InuYasha's call to arms. The variations that the orchestra plays on this song is plain genius. It has everything - from booming drums and brash brass, to a stirring violin solo that brings to mind InuYasha and Kagome's affections for one another. No doubt, 'Wind' will sweep you off your musical feet...

The music on this cd is fantastic! It is soothing and peaceful! Great music to relax to! It has music from the series,(mostly beginning and ending songs) and it is played mainly with string instruments. Even if you don't watch Inuyasha, you will still like this cd! Inuyasha fans, you will love it!! Also: check out animecastle.com -- They have a bigger selection of Inuyasha cds!!

Philharmonic Anime Music,

I find "Wind" to be excellent.
The capture of the music into Philharmonic form is most gratifing. The first track is especially good, and breaths with vibrancy of the original on-air version preformed by V6. The only real detraction is that so little of the InuYasha music was used. To paraphrase an old saying about good cooking "It looks great, sounds better, and you want more."

I purchased Wind on a lark. I love Inuyasha and thought it might be nice to listen to some of the music at other times. I popped it in the player and was transported somewhere else. The orchestra takes the already lovely songs and kicks them up more than one notch. Just a few notes on a few tracks:
Track 1: Change the world - starts off with a martial sounding theme and then throws you into a stirring rendition of the song from the anime. Track 2: Every Heart - I can see this playing in the background of every romantic scene or wedding. A trumpet focus in the middle adds a little bite. Sweet as Kagome herself. Track 10: Inuyasha's Theme - Wow was the only word that could describe this piece the first time I heard it. The music from the DVD and anime. Stirring, asiatic, majestic, moving, triumphant, millitant. Wow! Other tracks include Dearest, Fukai Mori, I am, Grip!, My Will, and two whose titles are in kanji and I can't read them. For the Inuyasha fan this is definately a must buy!!!!

If you like Inuyasha, and you like classic orchestral music... you will love this combination. Not from the OVAS or the series, a diferent variation, mature, serious, not for the kid-like fan. This could be the soundtrack from the greatest Inuyasha animated motion picture ever made!. You only need to add the movie... # 5 maybe?

Man, how well mistakes do turn out :),

Simply lovely orchestra arrangements of my favorite songs from Inuyasha.
Now when I first bought it I (stupid me) thought I was getting the official soundtrack with the songs and words from the Anime. Well OBVIOUSLY I was wrong, yet this CD is well worth having in and of itself. Beautifully arranged melodies. My favorite piece is one by Kaoru Wada that is titled in Japanese. It's beautiful theme music for my RPGs too ;) The orchestra (to my limited experience) sounds absolutely and wonderfully flawless. Grip! by Takayuki Hattori is another piece I thoroughly enjoy. This CD's worth getting as well. |
