A Wonderful Product!,

This review is from: Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair Bath Bench with Back (Health and Beauty)
This is a very good quality shower chair. It is stable and I love that you can adjust the height for each persons comfort. The backrest does provide good support and has a little give if you want to lean back to rinse your hair. I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and I provide people with shower chairs for a living. This is the best one I have seen! I now have a back injury, so I got this chair for myself and I really like it. I would say the only downside is that it is a large chair and if you don't have a tub shower or a big stall shower, it wouldn't fit very well.

I highly recommend this chair for the shower/wide bath if you have an elderly relative or for yourself. It is extremely sturdy, will not tip over, has strong legs and holds up to a 300 lb. person. I have had two other brands before this one. I now use one as something to sit on when I exit my shower. The other I plan to donate to some charity (although I will add a warning that it might tip over). The price is in the same ballpark as the other two I purchased.I give it 5 stars!!!!!

Great product and service,
By We were thrilled that Allegro Medical shipped it so quickly. They also emailed shipping statuses and followed up after we received it.

Safe for the patient Horrible for the caretaker!!,

The chair is sturdy for the patient but has so many nooks and cranny's in the back and bottom of the seat where MOLD and MILDEW can hide. It is such a pain to clean. They could have simply covered those areas with the same materials that they used on the front but they chose to make it a CHEAP design... Seems that no one seems to keep in mind the difficult job caretakers have in maintaining home safety equipment for the disabled or elderly...

This chair is so strong that your local EMT's used it to carry by husband out of the house. (he couldn't walk at the time)We both use it and it has served us well.

Chair doesn't meet published specs.,

This review is from: Invacare I-Fit Shower Chair Bath Bench with Back (Health and Beauty)
I've had the Invacare chair for about a year and for most of that time I have been quite satisfied. About two months ago I nearly fell out of the chair when near the end of my shower the front legs gave, bending forward (the feet slid forward) and inward. Fortunately I caught myself before falling. I examined the chair and noticed the front suction feet and come off the legs. I thought that was the problem and reattached the feet. Since that time, the problem has continued always occurring toward the end of my shower. Last week I finally found the culprit. The seat had a crack at the edge near where the right front leg attaches to the seat. I am a heavy man (325 pounds); the chair, however, is supposed to support up to 400 pounds. Either the chair was defective from the start and became worse with time or its weight capacity is simply not as advertised. I would not recommend this chair for anyone over 250 pounds, and even then, I would carefully watch for developing cracks.

This chair is very big & cumbersome - the size of a lawn chair. Furthermore, The vendor, Wheelchairs Plus, charges a 25% restocking fee for returns if they decide to accept a return as well as the purchaser must pay the return postage. Their customer service is poor.
