DC Alden has created a very scary and plausible future for the United Kingdom and Europe suffering a blitzkreig invasion from a united Islamic world intent on ushering in a global caliphate. The story primarily deals with events from the viewpoint of the British Prime Minister. There are a few secondary characters but they tend to be purely to give you another view on the invasion of the United Kingdom (except for one pretty neat twist). From the initial attack and his escape from Downing Street we follow the Prime Minister as he moves around England and the final retreat of all British military and political power into Scotland for a final confrontation. This is a very well crafted tale and moves at a cracking pace. This novel reminded me of early Tom Clancy but thankfully Alden does not take 2 pages to tell us how a handgun operates. What I found to be particulary interesting is how the Islamic invaders are not portrayed as foaming at the mouth extremists, their military is portrayed as capable, efficient and very human. At times I found myself shouting at the book because it seemed the Islamic army had a touch too much of good luck but as much as I hated the lack of resistance they faced I think that could be very accurate. Very quickly into the book you realize there is not going to be a happy ending but that did not stop me wanting to see some last minute miracle happen. For $2.99 this is a fantastic read. For an ebook I would easily pay twice this much for a book of this quality. I look forward to reading more from DC Alden.

Mr. Alden has written a surprisingly accurate and scary glimpse into the near future. As events are unfolding in the Middle East that parallel the novel's portrayal of the rise of the new Arabian state and along with the disintegration of the European Union, the sense is that I'm reading tomorrow's headlines today.Alden may take heat for his portrayal of the Arab/Islamic fifth column within Great Britain and Europe given today's PC sensibilities, but any serious study of the current state of affairs that takes an honest and rational view of radical elements within Islam will find that the events portrayed in Alden's book are plausible and frightening. As I turned each page, I wondered could this actually happen? Will it be the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt or the closing of the Straits of Hormuz by Iran that offers the final tipping point? Well told with good dialogue and action, it was a page turner from the time I opened it. Well worth the price...!

Well done Mr Alden, what a brilliantly crafted, exciting military novel you've written.I know little about military hardware or the inner workings of military planning so can't comment on technical aspects of the book, but I can tell readers looking for a mighty fine techno thriller that Invasion fits the bill nicely. In contrast to many kindle books in this genre, the author is that - an author - who can spell, craft a story, build characters and write excellent action sequences. Couple this with tight, plausible dialog and you have a great story. This is money well spent if you're after great holiday reading that will keep you up all night. I loved it.
