This review is from: Invention of the Aeroplane 1799-1909 (Hardcover)
Gibbs-smith did an excellent research job to answer the question of who was the first to fly, the Wright brothers being the first ones to demonstrate a sustained, controlled and powered flight, but with many other success and failure stories on the way. One good attribute of this book is that the author did not stop at 1903, but went on to show how the industry took off. The format, however, is a little disappointing and the pictures are sometimes obscure.
