classic treatise covering the subject,

This review is from: Invertebrate Fossils (Hardcover)
This is a "must-have" reference for both amateur fossil hunters and professional geologists and paleontologists in North America. Covers all major aspects of the subject. Some information a bit dated, especially that referring to graptolites and other problematica that have been worked out in the last 30 years or so. Still the best general treatment of the subject around.

M.L.F., Is part of my library because its a huge wealth of information when it comes to identification. While some names are outdated, its still much cheaper than buying the whole treatise..

Invertebrate Fossils Review,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Invertebrate Fossils (Hardcover)
I collect fossils, mostly from the Carboniferous and Permian exposures in Kansas. I had been looking for a good general fossil reference book. A friend of mine loaned me a copy of this book. I was amazed at how expansive and detailed this book was. I returned my friend's copy and found my own copy. I purchased a used copy. I intend to use the book in the field. I expect that it will see considerable use. The used book made more sense for me than the new copy. The book is broken into sections of related organisms and presents detailed descriptions of the animals involved followed by an evolving description of the radiating variations on the basic theme. If you collect fossils you will appreciate this book. I have found the illustrations and descriptions to be quite helpful as they have helped me identify several fossils that I collected in Southeast central Kansas.
