Although the focus sometimes meanders a bit, I've found this to be a great resource and a good education into buying a vacation home. It's a quick read as well. The big plus for this book, among others I've read on the topic, is that Boykin seems to know his subject and be writing from experience. You can tell this isn't some fly-by-nighter Real Estate author selling his theory or scheme because he uses the first chapter to practically tell us why we SHOULDN'T buy a vacation home. Any author who gives me the risk factors up front is worth reading, in my opinion. (Aside from the fact that he's a scholar on the subject.) This is in contrast to most authors who make it seem buying property is a no-risk cinch. One small minus of the book is that some of the photos are needless, obviously inserted to take up some space.
