It is a text book vs a simple reading book, however the author has done an excellent job of presenting the concepts in simple to understand format. With well writtem text and informative graphs the concepts easy to understand. Covers all types in investments instruments from stocks, bonds, options, futures and portfolio construction.

Solid Introductory Investment Textbook,
By Scuba Diver (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Investments: An Introduction (with Thomson ONE - Business School Edition) (Hardcover)
Mayo's "Investments" captures nearly all the relevant subjects in an increasingly complex financial frontier from simple debt instruments and equity issues to complex option strategies. I would have liked to see further mention of hedge funds though, as significant money seems to be pouring into these instruments and the student of investing would gain by knowing more about the various strategies they employ and the trading mechanisms used. Ditto for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). With that said, though, Mayo does a fine job providing a comprehensive basis on the investment world. Solid reference book. Strong 4 Stars.

One of the best basic finance textbooks,

This review is from: Investments: An Introduction (with Thomson ONE - Business School Edition and Stock-Trak Coupon) (Hardcover)
Mayo is a clear writer who has a knack for making this material easy to understand. You may wish to compare to his other ( less expensive) textbooks that are even more basic and understandable. You should also look at the textbooks written by Bodie, Kane and Marcus. These books are somewhat more technical. I guess that most students using any of these books are only buying what is assigned. Mayo is perhaps the easiest to understand.

Watch Out for CengageNOW Add On,
This review is from: Investments: An Introduction (with Thomson ONE - Business School Edition and Stock-Trak Coupon) (Hardcover)
Bought the book off Amazon instead of the campus bookstore. HOWEVER, the campus bookstore had bundled their book with the CengageNOW online study tool, which cost me another $69.99 seperately so I could do the online course assignments. Just double check what is needed beforehand. Nowhere in my course syllabus was the online study tool noted as being required.

This review is from: Investments: An Introduction, 10th Edition (Kindle Edition)
I HAD to buy this for my Investment class at school and I have to say it's very well written. I already have a Series 7 and 66 so this class is just a refresher. After passing the 7 I feel I am very well qualified to review this book. It's great for a person who doesn't know much about investments but wants to learn more without an individual author's tip and perspective on what investments are best. The layout is logical and the author does a great job of making the material easy for anyone to understand. If you buy the book for your kindle (or rent it) you can search for keywords. This is especially helpful if you take an online class and need to find things quickly for a test.

Excellent condition, almost new. Very impressed with delivery time and I save lots of money versus purchasing from my school bookstore. The cd/cenage id that was included I don't believe is what I needed, but my school provided me with an alternate one so I never had any issues accessing the learning online. I would purchase from this seller again.
