Editorial Reviews

Review

This is an excellent resource to find the information, documents and calculators you need to put a deal together... (The Wall Street Journal 20090101)

I wish that entrepreneurs that pitch our 'business angels' would first listen to Asheesh Advani's commonsense advice about funding their businesses -- great tips, documents and examples. (John May Angel Capital Association 20090101)

Advani gives you the nuts and bolts: evaluating prospects, narrowing the names to a "best bets" list, and negotiating loan terms.... This guide should be as indispensable to the first-time entrepreneur as cockeyed optimism and a calculator. (BusinessWeek 20090101)

The perfect resource for entrepreneurs in search of financing. (Teresa Cuilla Entrepreneur.com 20090101)

A vital resource for entrepreneurs seeking early-stage business financing. This books guides you every step of the way. (David Verrill Hub Angels Investment Group 20090101)

A timely contribution to the topic of small business financing. (Richard Field Mastercard USA 20090101)

Unlike most writing about venture capital and small business financing, this book is simple and practical and full of solutions that will actually apply to real businesses in the real world. (Tim Berry Palo Alto Software )

This book is filled with useful tools, resources, and advice that will help business owners get affordable and flexible financing. (Ken Yancey SCORE )

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of knowledge & easy to read, May 4, 2006
This review is from: Investors in Your Backyard: How to Raise Business Capital from the People You Know (Paperback)
I am so thankful to have found this book. The way the author distills down information that I would have otherwise had absolutely no knowledge about is helpful beyond words. It's also nice to pick up a 450 page resource and not be afraid to dive in and use it. Having little icons and images to guide you through the book was also helpful.
It is so packed full of information you might clall it an investors bible. And if seeing all the forms first hand wasn't enough, it also comes with a cd rom with everything you need to make money work for you.

I don't get motivated to write reviews very easily, but this book is definitely, as the proverb goes, worth its weight in gold!

This review is from: Investors in Your Backyard: How to Raise Business Capital from the People You Know (Paperback)
This book is an invaluable resource for entrepreneurs dealing with the age old challenge of raising capital to form or grow a business enterprise. It is very clearly written and is filled with useful, practical and pertinent information and suggestions. The author does an excellent job of framing the issues and exhaustively reviewing the alternatives available to entrepreneurs. I would certainly recommend this book to those considering launching a business - it is sure to open their eyes to ideas and opportunities they had not envisioned.
