This is a very nice watch for the money.

When comparing it primarily to a Fossil watch I own that sells for the same price, this seems to be a significantly better watch.

The Invicta has a substantial build quality. The band is very strong, and the lens seems to be quite scratch resistant. About that lens: this is "flame fusion", which is their marketing hype term for a synthetic process making the lens similar in hardness to a saphire or a ruby. This is an extremely scratch resistant lens, so long as you don't jam a diamond into it. The watch is made of stainless steel. Since this watch is not plated I don't have to worry about scratches being too prominent (I strongly discourage you from getting a gold plated watch). It promises capability of surviving 200 M deep underwater, and though the watch does feel well made, I am skeptical because the crown does not screw in, but rather presses in straight. Regardless, this seems like it's more than up to all the abuse I'm sure to put it through.

This is a pretty large watch. It has a satisfying weight. The band is quite comfortable, but they give you a very long band, so 99% of owners will need to remove a few links. Jewelers do this, and you can also get this product and do it yourself. Personally, I used a thumbtack and a rubber mallet, which is not something I advise!

It tells time accurately so far, and I'll be sure to update if that changes.

Frankly, I can't see why someone would need a nicer watch than this one. It's attractive, durable, and comfortable. It is lacking a date function, but honestly those annoy me on analog watches as you inevitably wind up off a day or two.

Great watch! My only quartz pro diver, which is handy since it's always ready to go without winding and setting. I miss having a date function when I wear it, but for me it's actually for the better since I store/display watches in rotations with the crown pulled to save the battery. All I have to do is quick set time w/o worrying about date or am/pm.

Quality: top grade stainless steel and solid links. This looks like a $1000 watch. I get stares and comments all the time. One nice thing about this pro diver, if you have any other invicta divers, it does not have the INVICTA engraved on the side. The chrono is not the type that has the sweep second rest at 12 until stop watch is used. I prefer that since I'd rather see the big sweeping second hand running than a little mini dial. Although I never need a stop watch chrono it's fun to have. If I ever need to time something I use the unidirectional bezel. The movement itself is a Seiko quartz.

Testing: good idea to test the limits of every watch when you first get it so if it fails within its specifications you can return it immediately. All watch brands can send a lemon or have broken seals.
I have not taken this particular watch swimming but had it in boiling hot tub, left for 24hrs in 125g aquarium (~3 feet), 12hrs in saltwater tank without rinsing after to watch for corrosion of inferior stainless. There is none. After each water test it goes right in refrigerator (80 degrees to 33) to check for fogging under crystal. Passed all tests! Don't worry about non screw down crown. There are gasket seals that do fine.
The "flame fusion" crystal may be a weird marketing name but it works great! Not one scratch and by all means should have. Beads off water droplets quick too!
Definitely a buy! Make sure you add a 22mm NATO strap to the order too for when you want to change the attitude of the look.

This is my fourth Invicta, all still work and look great. My oldest is 12 years old, the classic 8932 Pro Diver (highly recommended). Does Invicta inflate the MSRP, YES, and so what, the quality and looks you get for the price can't be beat. Can you find a higher quality watch, sure.. but not at this price. I have looked at a lot of watches and the Invicta styling always draws me back, to me they just look better than anything out their in this price range and even many that are higher priced. I received the 1770 for Christmas and there is a definite "WOW" factor when opening the bright yellow box. I am 6'1" and 260 pounds and still had to adjust the band a little, although I like a loose fit on a watch. This will no doubt quickly become #1 of the 4 that I own. If I had to make a critique on the watch I'd say lose the "Japan Movement" on the back of the watch, no one will ever see it. It does not take away from the watch in anyway, the Invicta name is quality enough for me, so please understand I am really stretching to find something to critique. 100% guaranteed this watch will impress whoever receives it as a gift. I work in an executive office and have already recevied several compliments on this watch and today is the first day I wore it to the office.

    Verified Purchase
I purchased this watch so i had a cheap waterproof watch to wear when I went on holiday and received it in not time at all, for the price the quality was good on first inspection.
After 3 weeks I left for my holiday and all was well until one day I went inner tubing down a river in Indonesia, this was the first time the watch had been introduced to water.
I estimate the watch would have been submerged to a maximum depth of 50cm and afterward I discovered condensation inside the case misting up the glass. I was quite disappointed in this as I was nowhere near approaching the 200m the watch is rated at. Due to me being on holiday by the time I returned home the 30 day return period for Amazon had lapsed and I now must send it back to California (I live in Australia) along with a $28 money order for return shipping. The shipping in addition to the money I spent getting it resized (I should have bought jewellers' screwdrivers etc to do this on my own in hindsight) is approaching the amount of money I initially outlaid on the watch so the value is not looking so good now.
