A combination of innovative styling and high-performance functions define the Men's S1 Collection Chronograph Watch from Invicta. Framed by the barrel-shaped, 18k gold-plated stainless steel case, the unique double-layered gold-tone and carbon fiber dial features overlapping subdials with 60-second, 30-minute, and 1/10-second register functions. Gold-tone hands with luminous accents track the time, and gold-tone Arabic numerals mark four and eight o'clock. The brushed and polished 18k gold-plated stainless steel bracelet is detailed with a weave pattern that is mirrored on the push buttons and case edge. With a tachymeter rounding the outside of the dial and a water resistant depth of 330 feet (100 meters), this precision timepiece also offers a convenient date display at four o'clock.

This watch makes a bold statement without screaming "Look at me!!" It is big and beautiful. Now, I have to be honest and tell you that it is the largest watch that I have ever seen- I kid you not! I purchased it for my husband several months ago and HE looks great in it. The face (the square) is extremely thick and pretty heavy-it may be too overwhelming for some. It could look a bit ridiculous on certain body types... but if the man has a certain confidence and style, the S1 Chrongraph is the perfect watch. My husband has a big muscular frame and can successfully carry this look off. When I opened the case, I wasn't sure how my husband would feel about it- but when he put it on, I knew that it was made for him. He loves it too and gets complimented every time he wears it.

I do love this watch. The look is unique and the movement is great. Many of the Invicta reviews remark at the size of these watches. It is true. If you want a large watch, this is the maker for you. What surprised me is the height this watch stands off the wrist. It is a very thick watch. The face is large and the band is wide, but I did not realize how tall the watch is until I put it on. Everything about it is oversized. This does not reduce the quality. The chronograph is dead-on. The second hand matches up to the lines. The buttons and adjustments are responsive and accurate. Everything I'd expect in a watch. Because of the huge size, it definately is more than I expected. The gold tone Stainless is really bright, and there is not a bad angle for this watch.

I gave it 4/5 stars only for one reason. I bought this watch for the look and it is comfortable - albeit heavy - to wear. The one knock against it is the flexibility of the band. Because of the unique pattern, the band does not bend, flex or rotate the way I am used to with my other metal band watches. This does not reduce the comfort at all. It's just not what I thought it would be.

But overall, I wanted a gold-tone watch that would be noticed. I didn't plan on investing in a multi-thousand dollar luxury watch. I researched the Invictas and the reviews were decidedly positve. After looking for the right gold watch, I picked the 5779 for it's non-traditional squared face, the gold tone and the date+chrono. For my desire of a big fun gold watch this is exactly what I got. It is a conversation piece, it is great looking and Amazon gave me a great price. What else could I want?!
