I don't know if I got the two lemons from the batch but I bought the watch based on Invicta's reputation for quality and the aesthetic of the watch itself. I love the exposed gears and the size while large, just adds to the steampunk feel of it. Unfortunately the first one I received started shedding the screws that hold the crystal on within a week. I lost the screw at the 4 o'clock and noon positions. I called Amazon and they sent me a new one. That one was DOA. I don't know if it had a broken mainspring or what but nothing happened upon winding. I have given up on a new watch for now. I do have to say that throughout this ordeal Amazon's customer support has been excellent. I just wish I could say the same for Invicta. I called them when the first watch lost its screws to see if they would replace them. They would if I paid for the parts. Not impressive warranty coverage when the watch is only a week old. I could also ship it back to them at my expense to have the 20-30 cents in parts replaced. No thanks. I'll look elsewhere. I hope I just happened to hit the lemons in the bunch because it is a GREAT looking watch.

After I found out about Amazon's correction of the title, I got nervous about what I had purchased and began researching. My searches turned up absolutely nothing on this watch at which point I contacted Invicta. The lady I talked to told me this watch was not officially being released until January 2010 as it is part of their 2010 collection.
I received my watch and I am dissapointed it is not automatic, but I do like it a lot and believe it is well worth the $130-$140 amazon is selling it for due to the workmanship and aesthetics of this piece. Agree with other posts about not being anywhere near worth the MSRP of $895, and the audibility of the ticking in quiet settings.

I just recieved this watch as a Christmas present. All I can say is WOW it is visually stunning. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is probably one of the largest watches I have ever seen. Normally I wouldn't like the size of it, but in this case, it allows the interal gearing to be seen clearly. Yes it is a manual watch, but I don't mind that either. In my opinion it gives it that timeless watch feel.

If you like a big watch this is a very Nice looking watch, inner workings nicely detailed, although for a mechanical(no batteries hooray) non automatic watch its a little pricey(895$ MSRP please!!), but it is very nice, also you can't see it in the picture but the interior bezel(black ring) is numbered and has the minute marks, also unless you have a very large wrist, count on removing some links, I recommend getting one of the watch band adjustment tools(search for invicta watch sizing tool) to remove the pins, they sell them here they are under (...),
you can make a minor adjustments on the buckle itself. also the band in the middle of the band is actually more of a gunmetal gray looks black in picture, complements the watch very nicely.

I bought this watch on sale at Amazon. I liked the watch for 3 days, then the hands fell off. It has an extended warranty of 5 years. I signed up for it and they said to send the watch in with $28.00 for the return postage. I have bought watches from Invicta for the last time. Good by. I am surprised Amazon deals with a company like this one.

Watch is completely defective right out of the box. Winding stem WOULD NOT engage to wind the watch. You can change the time by pulling stem out, but once you push it back to the first position, the stem would not catch with the winding mechanism.
I tried to figure out exactly why it is doing so by opening up the case back. It turns out that the case spacer and display back that secures the movement in place is not an exact fit. The stem works with the movement only if the spacer is removed and movement slides closer to the stem side. But once the spacer is out, the movement tilts to one side and is unable to fit correctly with the case back. This is not just a QC problem. But a serious design flaw. It shows how irresponsible Invicta is to the quality of their product. The watch should never have been sold on at the first place. Invicta really just put an improper movement and stuck it in a case and called it the day. I owned quite a few Invictas over the years and always thought they are very good value for entry level mechanical watches. Especially their early Submariner homage watch with Swiss ETA movements. Good case, good movement and very good value indeed. But the quality has steadily decline over the years and it just doesn't seem to make sense to buy a watch with poor design, poor workmanship anymore. If you want a decent mechanical watch in the same price range, save some money and get a Seiko 5 or citizen.

Quick shipping and handling, but when watch arrived it had a loose screw that simply fell out.

This watch is GORGEOUS. Not only is it beautiful but the ability to watch the mechanics through the glass make it a really distinct time piece. My husband loves it and his father (who is normally a Tag admirer) has his eye on it. Every person that sees it comments on it.

After reading the other reviews here, I am suddenly feeling lucky to have gotten one that works but I have other Invicta watches that are all just fine so I assumed the same would be true of this one and I have not been proven wrong as of yet. I bought it on something of a lark as it looked nice in the photos and it was on super sale a few months back but it quickly became my everyday go-to watch and I still receive numerous compliments on it. It winds fine, it runs fine, it keeps perfect time and no screws have fallen out. It has been perfect from the day I received it.
Yes, it's manual. If you like watches at all, this isn't even on your radar. The hour and minute markings on the interior of the bezel are a nice touch (if unnecessary as the bezel screws are at the even numbers anyway and do the job just fine), though you can't seem them in any photos I've found online. If anything, the interior parts are a little too bright and have a little too much scrollwork - it comes close to being too busy visually - but doesn't actually cross the line. There is a window on the back as well so you can see completely through this piece; I didn't notice that in any of the photos either. It's large, 46mm, but not monstrous as some Invictas can be (50-52mm) and ends up being a nice large size without overpowering anything else you're wearing. The band is great and as someone else mentioned, the interior, textured part is far more of a gunmetal grey than the black that it appears to be in the photos. Runs great, looks great, feels great... love it! |
