Amazon.com Product Description

Big, bold and masculine, the Invicta Pro Diver Automatic 6018 is an affordable luxury watch with classically styled features. This precisely constructed timepiece for men features a solid stainless steel case that's 43mm wide (1.69 inches). It has a textured black face with Tritnite luminous hands and markers, allowing them to glow for up to 20 hours in the dark. This watch also has a solid stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel with raised numerals and markings and coin-edge detailing. In addition, this watch features a see-through exhibition back window, allowing you to view the movable parts in motion. Other features include anti-reflective mineral crystal, magnified date display at 3 o'clock, and water resistance to 660 feet (200 meters). The highly polished stainless steel band has a fold over clasp with safety.

Pro Diver Collection

Plunge into any horizon using the steadfast guidance of the Invicta Pro Diver. Stylishly classic, internal workings are forged with variations of either Swiss chronograph or 21-jewel automatic movements and willingly navigate in depths up to 300 meters. Built with confident prowess, the fortitude with which these timepieces function makes the Pro Diver the quintessential in performance.

Screw Down Crowns: Many Invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our Diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force.

Automatic Watches

Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and wonderful, November 13, 2009

This review is from: Invicta Men's 6018 Pro Diver Automatic Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
This is an excellent watch. I bought it for my husband. He spends his workdays by unloading deliveries off 18-wheelers, then sorting the departments out. With the automatic movement of the watch, it never stops ticking.

He is very very hard on his watches. So far, after a month, not even a scratch or blemish on it. He wears it all day, every day, and doesn't even take it off when he showers or sleeps.

It does have a bit of weight to it, but he says it is still comfortable to wear. It DOES come a bit large, so if you have smaller wrists like my husband, be prepared to have 4 or 5 links taken out to size it down.

The watch is heavy first off. Well put together. The band is why I bought this watch it's all 100% stainless steel. The actual watch far exceeded my expectations. It keeps really good time I do have it in a watch winder whenever I am not wearing it. GREAT DEAL

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice Watch - But Read On, November 25, 2009

This review is from: Invicta Men's 6018 Pro Diver Automatic Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
I own many Invicta's. Some are good and some are bad. For the price point this is an OK watch. So why the lower rating you ask? For one reason, on the watch that I received, the watch crystal had a haze or film (possibly oil or fingerprint) on the inside near the 6:00 position. You could see this especially when looking under fluorescent lighting. Second, the rotating bezel did not line up properly (arrow) at the 12:00 position. Also on this model the Lume was not too good and not applied properly (sloppy). On some of my other Invictas, the Lume or Luminescence Tritnite® on the markers and dials is much better. These things might be minor to some, but to a watch person like myself it is noticeable. Although the watch looks nice and the stainless steel bracelet is decent, the watch lacks some quality control.

On a positive note, the Seiko self-winding movement for the most part is good and I do prefer over the older self-winding Miyota 8216 movement that Invicta has used in its cheaper watches. The Seiko movement appears to be a little more accurate.

I guess its the luck of the draw, you might get a perfect Invicta or you might get a defective one, or one that was assembled sloppy. The good news is that Amazon will accept returns without a hassle.
