3.0 out of 5 stars Nice watch - especially at around $55
I was skeptical of the brand based on various online reviews. Amazon offered it for about a 35% discount over the typical street price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good First Automatic, November 9, 2009

This review is from: Invicta Men's 6014 Pro Diver Automatic Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
This is my 3rd Invicta and first automatic from them. I couldnt pass up the price and my other Invicta's have worked really well. The case is really well sized, not too big and not too small. I had to take 6 links out so you know you get a lot of room to adjust. The links are solid steel, not folded which is nice. The exhibition case back is a really nice touch and the rotor has a nice finish with Invicta Watch Group on it. The rotor moves smoothly and it takes a couple good shakes to get it going. Note that this automatic cannot be hand wound. It has the look and feel of an expensive watch, but you wont have to worry about banging it up with everyday use. It doesnt have a screw down crown, so the 200m rating is a little suspect. The longevity and accuracy of the movement will take time to tell.

Its a good buy for diving into you first Pro Diver automatic!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a BBW = A Big, Beautiful Watch. Buy it if you can find it!!!, February 8, 2010

This review is from: Invicta Men's 6014 Pro Diver Automatic Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
If you are able to find this watch, Buy it!!! This watch is the latest in the Pro Diver series from Invicta. On a side note, I originally purchased the Invicta 8932 which has the smaller 38 mm case and comes with a black dial and bezel. Compared to the 6014, the 8932 watch seems tiny! I posted pictures here so you can see a comparison of the two watches. Update: I am now selling the 8932 watch because the 6014 has all of the features I want and the look that I like.

This watch is my everyday wear watch. I am not a diver, nor do I intend to use this as a diver's watch. I also realize that this is not a $5,000 Rolex, however when you read reviews on some of the other Invicta watches, the reviewers seem to hold Invicta up to the same quality standards as a Rolex. Let me be perfectly clear here. I bought this watch for $64.99 with free shipping (around the holiday time). I would much rather have this watch than a Fossil or a Kenneth Cole (sorry, these were the only two names I could come up with). I feel comparing an Invicta to a Rolex is like comparing a Honda to a Bentley. They will both get you from point A to B, but one will get you there with a higher insurance premium and $180,000 less in your bank account.

Ok, back to the review. I was originally looking at and comparing the Invicta 5017 and 4605(they have a black dial and bezel). These are both 43 mm automatic watches, but they lack some of the features I was looking for. When I stumbled upon the 6014, I realized I found the right watch. I personally do not have anything negative to say about this watch, but I will list the features as Pros and Cons so that all of the facts are on the table.

Pros:

Case Size and Thickness: The 6014 has a 43 mm case (not including the crown) so it is a large watch. Compared to most of the men's watches today, 43 mm isn't really that big. I have a small wrist and the 43 mm case looks fine on me. The size of the watch comes down to personal preference. I personally feel that 43 mm is a great size, not too big and not too small. The case thickness is 14 mm compared to the 8932 which is only 10 mm. I love the size and weight of this watch.

Exhibition Case-back: Another great feature of the 6014 is the exhibition (see through) case-back that shows off the inner workings of the NH25A movement from Seiko. It is more ornate than the Miyota exhibition case-backs on some of the other Pro Diver watches from Invicta and looks more expensive.

Bezel: The Bezel is a 90 click dark navy blue bezel. The bezel color is darker than the watch dial face. The bezel color does not change in different light the way that the blue sunburst dial face does.

Bezel Lume Dot: A great feature is the lume dot at the bezel zero position. This is a nice feature that some of the other Invicta 43 mm Pro Diver watches do not have (ex: Invicta 5017 and 4605).

Sunburst Dial Face: The color of the blue sunburst dial face can appear to change depending of the lighting level. The color appearance can range from a deep blue purple, indigo, medium blue to a lighter silver blue depending on the light conditions (ex:sunlight vs incandescent, etc.)

Dial face: Another plus for me is the appearance of the watch dial face. The Invicta logo and the Pro Diver Manta logo are silver. Also, the traditional Invicta wings logo that is on many of the other Invicta 40 and 38 mm Pro Diver models has been removed from the second hand of the 6014. I feel this design is more elegant and classic than some of the other Pro Diver models.

Crystal and Cyclops: The 6014 has a Flame-Fusion crystal that provides excellent scratch resistance and strength to resist shattering if the watch is dropped. (My cat already knocked mine off my dresser and I have had no problems...wish I could say the same for an older Seiko that suffered the same fall.).
The Cyclops is bigger and provides much better magnification than the 38mm and 40mm Pro Diver watches from Invicta. This is a plus for me.

Case Appearance: The Invicta engraved logo does not appear on the side of the Invicta 6014 as it does on most Invicta Pro Diver watches. The Invicta logo has also been removed from the crown face. This is a plus for me. The case is also thicker compared to most traditional quartz watches.

Watch band: The bracelet of the Invicta 6014 has highly polished center links that really shine and contrast nicely next to the brushed outer links. This band really looks sharp in person and I feel that pictures cannot do this watch justice. One small side note, I wish the band was a little bit wider. (See my Watch Band Size Con below).

Time Keeping: I have heard a lot of other reviewers saying that Invicta automatic watches lose or gain X amount of minutes per week or month. I personally have not experienced any noticeable time loss or gain and I have owned the watch since December 2009...and I have dropped the watch once (actually my cat knocked the watch off of my dresser) :)

Cons: (These technically aren't cons, but to some people these may be considered cons.)

Movement: The 6014 uses the Seiko NH25A movement. This movement cannot be hand wound like watches with the Miyota automatic movement. You will need to either wear this watch everyday or buy a watch winder to keep the automatic movement wound. This is not an issue with me since I wear this watch everyday. I have gone up to 20 hours without wearing the watch and it was still ticking away.

Crown: The 6014 has a pullout crown, not a screw down crown. Personally, I don't mind this, but for some people, like divers, this may present itself as an issue. According to Invicta, a rubber gasket insures a water tight seal on the pullout crowns. In my opinion, you probably have no business relying on a $65.00 watch when are you diving deeper than 5-10 meters. I would prefer a screw down crown and I can only assume that the pullout crown keeps costs down at Invicta.

Bezel: The 6014 bezel only has 90 clicks. Some people prefer 120 clicks. I personally see 60 clicks as more than sufficient.

Watch Band Size: One area that I feel Invicta could have improved on is the band width size. Most 43 mm pro Diver watches (ie: Invicta 5017 and 4605) have a 22 mm wide band, but the 6014 only has a 20 mm wide band. I personally feel that a 22 mm band would look nicer and more manly :). Don't get me wrong, I think the 20 mm band still looks great. (Apparently Invicta 43 mm watches with the Seiko NH25A automatic movement have smaller band sizes than the 43 mm watches with the Miyota automatic movement).

I hope this review helps with your decision making.

This watch was absolutely beautiful, and had a nice weight to it. The dial is very large, but not gawdy looking. My bf was thrilled with this as his Christmas present. I would definitely recommend it to someone who likes a very large, well designed man's watch. The band was very easy to take links out to adjust for size. Couldn't be happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invicta men Pro diver automatic, December 11, 2009

Great watch, present for my husband's birthday. He really only likes automatics so this was a great buy. We bought a slightly different model for our son's 21st a few yrs ago and he wanted one just like it. Its not for a man with a small wrist... should really have let my hubby do this review ...

The Hubby review.....
I have been wearing this for a week. It is not my first Invicta, it will not be my last, but it could easily be the only watch I need.

This is a heavy watch with a large face and a solid feel.
The face is extremely nice, the dark blue face is wonderful, the hands are clear and the date magnification is great.

I set the time a week ago and it is now about a minute fast, so for a mechanical watch, this is very good.

I love that it is smart enough to wear at work, yet casual enough to wear with jeans and a tee. 'Timeless' is a phrase that springs to mind. Add to that its amazing build quality and you have a winner.

Buy one for your husband !

This is my second Invicta watch. It is a Swiss name, but the movement is Japanese. With that said, I must say that these are good looking watches. This blue is more of a dark navy blue (like the second picture). The dial is large, and the numbers are easily visible. I think that it looks very stylish. It could almost be confused for a Rolex. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a mechanical watch. It looks good and presents itself well when worn.
