Mixed feelings, March 21, 2011

I have become a fan of Invicta watches and since converted from other more expensive brands. However, I will only search out Invicta's with "Swiss Made" (industry standard) not Swiss Movement, etc. it is not the same and Invicta uses those phrases very loosely. I am also not a fan of mineral or Invicta's "flame fusion" crystals and will only purchase watches with sapphire crystals. This Retrograde Pro Diver filled my requirements while having a unique color and layout of the chronograph operation. Comparatively to my favorite Invicta 3481 Grand Diver, this watch is much lighter, does not have as large a face or thickness. It makes for a very reasonable everyday watch that still stands out without being flamboyant. There are only two aspects in this watch that disappoint me. The watch hands are fully covered in luminous paint which take away from the sophisticated look. My biggest disappointment came when the back cover was removed and discovered the use of a plastic liner. The movement is properly marked Swiss but I am let down by the use of plastic in the watch. My 3481 Grand Diver does not contain any plastic and I was hopping this Retrograde Pro Diver would be similar but it was not. Overall, this is a great watch, I am fairly happy with it and it has become my everyday watch.
