5.0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Wow Factor at This Price Point, June 18, 2009
This review is from: Invicta Men's 4578 Russian Diver Collection Quinotaur Chronograph Watch (Watch)
The Invicta Russian Diver Quinotaur 4578, named after the Greek Myth, a bullish sea monster with five horns, retails for $675. Amazon sells it for $250.

Featuring a swiss-movement, rubber strap with silver stainless steel cylinders, and a 52 mm bezel (58 mm if you include the crown), the Quinotaur is a large, bold watch. I recommend this size watch for men with wrists at least 7.5 inches. My wrists are slightly more than 8 inches and I use the strap's third punch hole. Men I've talked to who are about 6 feet and in the 200-230 range usually make a good fit for this watch.

The watch feels very comfortable and has solid, well-built feel. There's nothing cheap about the materials.

If you're looking for Wow Factor without being garish, this watch fits the bill very well.

I do have a slight dislike for the little chain that dangles between the crown and the bezel and I'm tempted to have a jeweler remove it, if that's possible.

In terms of bang for your buck, the Quinotaur gets high marks. I like the Nixon 51-30 series, which sell on eBay for $300-330 with metal strap. For about $100 less, the Quinotuar delivers a lot of wow.

It feels good wearing it. I feel bigger, younger, more muscular. My bench press is up these days. I'm happy to help my neighbors carry a sofa up a flight of stairs. I'm back to popping off beer bottle caps with my teeth. No steroids. Just a manly watch.

This review is from: Invicta Men's 4578 Russian Diver Collection Quinotaur Chronograph Watch (Watch)
This is a stunningly beautiful watch. The craftsmanship and quality are of very high standards. First thing I noticed when I opened the yelllow gift box was that all of the stainless steel is covered with clear protective peel off stickers that leave no residue whatsoever (none). The crystal obviously is covered as well. The toughest part was getting the tightly wound clear adhesive that was wrapped around the small chain that connects from the crown to the bottom button. I found that small surgical scissors worked well for that task. Once everything was peeled away and I took a good look at the watch, I was amazed. The stainless steel is flawless with no imperfections whatsoever. I also noticed this watch is very heavy, which I like. And the case is huge. If you like attention, you will certainly get it, wearing this. People are just drown to it due to its sheer size. This is not a watch for the timid. The watch is very comfortable to wear. The stainless steel pieces that are interlaced in the wristband, provide a nice contrast adding visual appeal. I stared at the beauty of this watch for several minutes before I opened the manual. It's like a piece of art. I like watches that are easy to read and the numbers on this watch are so crisp making it easy on the eyes. One of the interesting things I learned while reading about this chronograph watch is that the Constant primary "second" hand is actually located at the 3 oclock inner indicator and is NOT the thinnist and longest "second" hand normally found in most watches. Instead, the thinnest "second" hand on this watch is primarily used for the stopwatch features. ( Technically, you could leave the stopwatch on continaully if you wish and it could serve as your primary "second" hand if you choose. In fact, at first I thought the watch was broke because the biggest and thinnest hand wasn't moving. Good thing I read the manual. Again, the primary constant "second" hand is in the 3 o'clock inner dial. The 6 oclock inner dial provides the 10th of a seconds while using the stopwatch feature and the the 9 oclock inner dial counts the stopwatch minutes elapsed. Underneath the 12 oclock is the date of the month which is small but still readable under normal lighting conditions. Once your watch gets a significant amount of light, the hour and minute hands as well as the tiny light green circles around the watch, glow in the dark nicely. This is now without question my favorite watch. Simple but elegant and the perfect all around watch. Nice enough to wear to a nice black tie affair but yet still casual enough when wearing jeans when watching sports or a night out having drinks with friends. It just goes with just anything. The watcth feels very well put together and solid. The only thing I question is the chain. I don't hate it. It looks cool. I just wonder if it will scratch the crown or case jiggling around. So, I'm undecided on that but will leave it there for now. Probably the only reason it is on their is to prevent you from losing the crown cover should you drop it and lose it. But thats minor. In fact, I'm sure any qualified jeweler could probably remove it, if it was a big issue for you. Actually its so small I don't really even feel the chain at all when wearing it. This is now my favorite watch and now will be my everyday watch except on a few rare occasions where something else may be better suited. In fact, on appearance, I would take this watch over any Cartier, Rolex, Citizen, Seiko, Movado, ESQ, or Tag H, any day of the week. However, the true test is how well is the accuracy of the watch. I just got it, so I cant comment on that aspect yet. But I just set it to the US Atomic Clock, and I will check it against that in 30 days I'm not looking forward to getting my first ding or scratch on this watch. It is that awesome. This watch is a "must have" for any guy over 200 lbs and at least 6 ft tall. Makes a guy in his 30 or 40's feel like he is 17 again.

This is a really Huge and heavy watch... Great for everyday use although it could be a little uncomfortable at times in the office due to its size.
Don't even doubt that everyone in the room will notice it, maybe even with the lights off! If you have a strong and dominant personallity, this is the watch for you!!
It fits great into my collection of Kinetics, Wengers and Stuhrlings.
