Beautiful and Unusual Watch,
This review is from: Invicta Men's 9329 Speedway Collection Chronograph S Watch (Watch)
I own over a dozen timepieces that include Seiko, Bulova, Citizen, and Invicta. I own no less than 5 Invictas and they all have performed flawlessly. While I agree with the common thought that the manufactured suggested retail price of Invictas is someone inflated the prices found on Amazon for these watches are well below this and the timepieces are well worth the greatly reduced price. One thing for sure, Invicta watches look like they would cost well above the MSRP and therefore you you get one and wear it you will be well pleased. The Invicta Speedway Collection and specifically this watch, the 9329 compares in looks with the Rolex Daytona that goes for 8K to 11K.
One of the other reviewers stated he could not pull out the stem to set the watch. The stem and the pushers on these speedway additions are of a screw down type. In short, the stem and pushers are screwed down into the bezel for water proofing. To operate the stem and pushers you must first un-screw (turn counter clockwise) the stem or pusher away from the bezel and then you may pull the stem for setting the time or push the pushers to operate the other dials (called complications). This may sound complicated, but it is not. This watch is made with solid stainless steel with a combination of brushed and highly polished parts. The contrast between the two looks great. On this watch the face is a very unusual and very handsome tone of blue. The best way for me to describe it is to say it is very close to the blue tone of police emergency lights. The looks of the watch design, bracelet, and the wonderful blue is what made this watch one of my favorites right out of the box. Please see the picture I posted on the product page under customer image. The watch has a sweep second hand but it also has a small dial (complication) that is also a second hand and therefore this is redundant. The other two complication dials are minute and hour. Using the pushers you could use this watch as a stop watch but only to the second. The Rolex Daytona however does not have a redundant dial and you can use this watch as a true stop watch. But again, you will be paying thousands of dollars for that watch and less than $130 for the invicta. Basically, the extra complications on the invicta do function correctly but they are for looks. And again, looks this watch has! The face is covered by a sapphire crystal that is very clear and stands up to wear being very scratch resistant. The product Invicta uses to illuminate the hands in the dark is very good but not the quality you find on watches like Seiko. The only reason I do not give this watch 5 stars is the redundancy of the second complication and the hands do not illuminate as long as I would prefer. However, the scale here does not allow me to pick 4.5 stars which I would if I could. I get compliments on this watch every time I put it on. I have been asked by more than one if it is a Rolex. I highly recommend this watch for oneself or as a gift. Again, the picture of it on the page including the image I posted falls short in giving this watch justice. At this writing amazon sells this watch with free shipping for less than ?130 and this watch at that price is a bargain! If you do elect the free shipping be prepared for it to take about two weeks to get to you. Amazon did not even ship my watch for about 4 days after I ordered it but for free shipping I could not complain.

Stock Pic doesnt' do Justice,

This review is from: Invicta Men's 9329 Speedway Collection Chronograph S Watch (Watch)
Just got this watch in the mail. For a $100 plus dollar watch, the UPS guy just left it dead center in front of my Apt door. hmmmm. Good thing i have decent neihbors. Anyways, theres plenty other reviews on the longitivity and durability of this and other Invictas so I'll not comment on that since I just got it. First off, this watch is WAAAYYY nicer looking in person than in the pic. In fact, I think mine might be a little different. The only thing different on mine is that unlike the stock pic and the user's pic where the ring around the chronographs are blue, mine are a brushed chrome. I like that ALOT better, it adds a very classy touch. I looked on the inner band that connects to the watch case, it says 07/06. So i'm guessing my watch was manufactured July of 06'. Hmmm. Something to keep in mind.
Anyways, I was worried that everything would blend into each other and be ilegible according to the stock pics. I was dead wrong. Everything is very clearly decernable and the chorm rings around the chrono's definetly add another lair of clairty. The texture of the blue and the intensity of it is perfectly balanced. Mine doesn't shine ridiculously like the user pictures on here. It's more a nice brushed chrome type sheene. Not blinding. The bezel and center part of the band are solid chrome. The pictures don't show it well, but it is very easy to distinguish the chrome from the brushed chrome. There's a very dicernable difference. The bezel is locked in place and does not rotate. The numbers in the bezel are lightly engraved, most likely by laser. They are not just painted on. The crown and buttons are all screw down. They don't screw down like a finely oiled gear, but they don't make you feel like your stripping the threads. It's just a little rough twisting. Everything works as stated so far. The big second had is actually stationary and only moves for the stop watch feature. The little circle at the bottom center is your second hand. It continues to move independently of the big second had when the stop watch is engaged as well. I adjusted the band myself with a tool kit I got from Amazon as well. A little tip I recommend. Tap the pin out in the direction of the arrow as you normally would with anyother watch. If you lie the pin parallel to the watch band, the big expanded end should be on the side with the arrow and the round end should be on the other side. When putting the pin back, I found it astoundingly easier if you put the pin back opposit the arrow (i.e. going back in the same side it came out). So basically just put the round non-expanded end through the band in the opposite direction of the arrown, then gentally tap the expanded end in. If you try to put the expanded end in first and put it in the direction of the arrow, you'll most likley bend the pin. I did, but it wasn't too bad and i was able to straigten it out. So be careful. Overall, this is a very beautiful watch. It's shiny, the face is detailed but not to busy looking. It's sharp, sophisticated and not tacky. If your tossing about getting this watch, just buy it. When you open the box and see it for yourself, you'll be sold.

screw down crown explained,
By Ciocc "Sew" (San Cristobal) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Invicta Men's 9329 Speedway Collection Chronograph S Watch (Watch)
I do not own this version, but another Invicta, as well as other watches with screw down crowns. What this means is you cannot pull out the crown without unscrewing it, which is done counter clockwise. It will then pop out. Then you push the crown in and screw it clockwise with gentle inward pressure to screw it down.
There is some discussion of the proper care while using the crown on the web. Apparently this is the area where you have the greatest potential to do damage to your watch, any watch. So be gentle, especially when setting the time, date, etc. With most watches you shouldn't do this near midnight. And perhaps do a search on the Web. The Invicta instruction booklets are completely generic, so it is not surprising that some people might be confused.

I'm 26 yrs old and a Front Desk Manager at a hotel in a tourist town. I wanted to purchase a sophisticated looking watch without paying a great deal of money. I'm also a family man so I had to keep it within reason. After reviewing and considering many different watches I decided on this one. I fully agree with the review that says the pictures do not do this watch justice. Right out the box I knew I had made the right decision. I get nothing but compliments about it. The Asst. G.M. at my work wondered how I could afford such a nice watch on my salary and the G.M. was very impressed.
I do have small wrists so the Free Invicta Watch Sizing tool that comes with the watch was great. I had to take out a total of 4 links. The only complaint I have and I can't even really call it a complaint, is that I like to wear my watches kinda tight and the pusher buttons on the top and bottom will sometimes unscrew while rubbing against my wrist. This does not cause any type of discomfort of any kind, it just that I may have to screw them back down about once a day. Now this may only happen because of the way I wear the watch. The face I feel is very easy to read and the shade of blue on it is just beautiful. The placement of the date took some getting used to but might be just me. It keeps great time so far but I've only had the watch for a little over 2 weeks now. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and would purchase a Invicta Watch again.

Great price for a very attractive and fuctional time piece,

The instruction manual is not very accurate. The watch seems to work as advertised. One reviewer here mentioned that they couldn't pull the pin out to adjust the time, per the instructions in the manual. I had the same problem, but what they forgot to mention was you had to turn the pin counter clock-wise, then the pin will pop out a little, then one can pull the pin out to adjust the time. When you are done, you do the reverse. So far, I am happy with my purchase. Smart looking watch.

Very good attractive watch.,

Not too heavy, not as light as some $200-$300 watches I've seen, but it is an attractive watch and the hands illuminate well in the dark.
The multiple dials on the side can catch if I'm not being careful but I've not damaged the watch by accident yet. It's much like a Vostok watch in that you have to unscrew the main (middle) dial before you can set the time. I think it's probably to do with the waterproofing of the watch but I can't be certain... Both of the other dials have a similar (cap, band, cam??) that you have to unscrew before you can get access to their functions. I think it's a little bit of mechanical complication but I like it as long as it's not too tough. I didn't have to read the manual to set the time, and I'm glad for that. Not too difficult to change times or dates, not overly cumbersome to do this, and it keeps very good time.

Great watch but minor drawbacks,

This review is from: Invicta Men's 9329 Speedway Collection Chronograph S Watch (Watch)
This invicta is a really nice watch but with some problems: All metal surfaces are polished on this watch so they scratch very easily and quickly. And the clock face is a bit too shiny in my opinion (hard to read in direct light).
Also, who needs a 24h dial on a chronograph (instead of a 1/10s dial)? But overall for this price a good deal and good looking.

I bought this watch thinking that i was going to get the same watch model i saw on the picture, but is not the same watch. The one on the picture has the 3 and 9 mark and the one i got does not have them. I'm really disappointed because of this, i believe people are being mislead here.

Most Handsome Watch,

I have to say, I'm usually skeptical about buying a timepiece (or any other expensive item) online but I took my chances with this one and man did it pay off. The watch is at least as good looking in person as one the website - some would say better. The watch has performed flawlessly in the short time I've owned it but I don't see what could go wrong. Other reviewers complain about the complicated buttons but just read the owners manual and it's totally simple, all you have to do is unscrew the buttons to press them. I paid $85 on amazon at the time but this watch easily looks like a much more expensive watch. Some compare it to a Rolex in appearance and I think that's valid. One more thing: the dimensions list the thickness at 9mm but I think that's wrong. This is not a thin watch but one that has some weight to it. That's not initially what I was looking for but I have to admit it's fine with me now. Just go ahead and buy it - no regrets.

Every now and again a watch from Invicta comes out and I cannot simply fathom the low prices they command with the looks they have.
I realise that the Invicta $MSRP price is really no indication on what the watch actually sells for. I've found most of the models sell for 20-30% of the original $MSRP. This watch may not have Swiss movements but it makes up for it with a beautiful crown, dial and sub-dials. The bezel is beautiful, in fact I cannot fault the watch in any way cosmetically and aesthetically. This watch is almost a Rolex Daytona Replica and I have been stopped and asked if it was a Daytona, although I would absolutely love a Rolex I can't afford the $20,000 that a Daytona commands. Invicta have thus produced a very pleasing time piece, it looks the part and the movement isn't terrible, for the price I would challenge you to find a better watch, it would be difficult, especially in this price range. Invicta has done the "Speedway" range justice and the watch itself is very handsome. |
