Invincible is the best christian techno-rock album on themarket.I bought it...and I can't stop listening to it.The first time Ilistened to it was in the christian bookstore. From then on I was hooked. The lyrics of the songs just make you want to put the cd on repeat so you can listen to it over and over.Every time I listen to it I feel closer to god and it makes me glad to know him!The cd itself is worth alot more than what you pay for it becoase of the excitement you get from listening to thier spiritualy powerfull lyrichs. So do yourself a favor and buy Skillet,Invincible.

One of the few bands who get even BETTER with every new release. They are definately at the top of their game with the release of Invincible. The music varies from the intense White Zombie-esque "Powerful" to the slower "I Rest" and "You're the One" that compare to last album's "More Faithful." There's also a song at the end called "Angels Fall Down" that is beyond comparison. The song actually made me cry. The album "Invincible" blends incredible music with the uncomprimising lyrics that define the band. I give this album 6 out of 5 stars and will be listening to it for the next month straight. If you want an Incredible CD, get Invincible.

In 1967 I was riding in my base players car after a practice and he says he wants me to listen to his new 8 track. He kept me in suspense as we headed out into the country. I was stunned by the power and brilliance of the writing and musical delivery of lead zephylin.
35 years later a CD hits me the same way, like no other I have experienced since 1967. Talked into taking the CD on a long business trip by my son, I popped in the Invincible CD. Skillet delivers heart pounder sheer energy, with uncommonly good timing and changes. Everytime I think I know where the lead guitar player is going, he fools me with a clever twist.
I listened to the CD for most of the 8 hour drive in total fascination and admiration. I am excited to listen to more of their work. If their third CD is this good, what are the rest like?
From "Secret" to "Brain" there is a brilliance here... talent on loan from God?

Invincible contains some very talented work I must say. What are more incredible are their concerts! It's just that, Skillet sounds so much like a band that's been around a lot longer than they have, but just hasn't received the same kind of accreditation. That band is Fold Zandura. Fold Zan has been around for about 11 years (called Mortal in the early 90's), and actually has been quoted as a pioneer of Industrial/Electronic music in the Christian music scene by some authorities. Invincible (released 2000) has a song called "Come on to the Future" which actually sounds way too similar to a song on Fold Zandura's CD Ultraforever (released 1997) called "La Futura". A friend of mine heard Skillet's song "You're Powerful" and said that it's actually a cover of a Mortal song (I'm not certain of that, but it'd make sense since that track sounds so different from the rest). Many people call Invincible unique and original (as you can see in other reviewers comments), but those many people have obviously not done their homework (and knowing is half the battle). Besides all that, Invincible does have some unique flavor that shows up in their songs and lyrics. I especially like the softer tracks "The One" and "Peace" with their soothing spiritual lyrics and beautiful melodies, which prove to be a true treat to the soul. "You Take My Rights Away" on the other hand, has a sort of club feel to it, in that it gets you moving. On other hand, the lyrical theme was very static and monotonous throughout their album which seemed to be a slight downfall (unless the lead singer meant to sound like a church praise and worship leader who stuck a knife in the electrical socket and took a few hits of speed).Read more ›

Self Titled Debut: Raw Grunge Hey You I love your soul: Techno-pop-rock. Invincible-Techno-pop-HardRock
My only question is, where do you go after creating a masterpiece such as Invincible? I couldn't get enough of it after first hearing it. EVERY song is so distinct and catchy. They all get ya jumpin and doing air guitar while singing your guts out! John Cooper's writing talents truly shine, as he and his wife wrote all the songs in this album. None of the songs get repetitious, there messages are ALL unique. It seems John DIVES deep into his soul, reaches up to Christ, and comes out with messages that I've hardly heard in any other Christian Group. His writing is inspired by "what does God want to say through me?" Rather then it all being emotion and confusion. There is nothing wrong with being "real" but Jesus used simple parables, why can't song writers do the same? If you want REALLY deep and emotional songs you should check out there debut album.
If you like Skillet I recommend Stereo Deluxx.

Yesterday was the first time we(my friend and I are writing this together) heard Skillet, at a Bleach and Skillet concert, and it was the best music we have heard in a long time, Christian or otherwise. We were blown away by their mix of electronica and alternative - this was the first time we had ever been exposed to christian rock (we just tagged along on a youth group trip) and weren't sure what we were expecting...but it was amazing - we immediately bought the cd, right at the concert. The concert was great, it seemed as though the music was enveloping you in a pocket of bliss! Our only hope was that the cd (Invincible) would hold up to the live versions, and happily, it does! it goes beyond the live show - So often the lyrics in popular secular music have no meaning, or are very negative, but not only do these lyrics have meaning, they are both positve and uplifting without being cheesy. For those of you who would like some comparison, we think the vocals remind us of Korn, some industrial parts sound like Nine Inch Nails, and some drum parts sound like Prodigy, all mixed in with a dose of Bush-ish guitar and electronica. There are also some great slow songs in there that demonstrate the fact that not only can the lead singer scream like a hard-rocking pro, but he can sing with the best of them. P.S. If you are able we totally suggest going to see them on their current tour with Bleach and Johnny Q. Public, it's super!
