Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Skillet's third release, Invincible, has the sort of momentum that pulls the listener's thoughts and emotions into it. Both the lyrics and music have a hard-hitting quality that plays off the other to create a no-nonsense production. Keeping in step with the electronic age, there is a heavy techno influence; buzzes and whirls often create what sounds like a musical Morse code. But, like a sledgehammer, the undulating drum loops, rolling bass lines, and chunky guitar patches drive this music forward. In addition to the intensity of the music, the lyrics pull no punches about the truths that they carry. Unfettered by compromise, straightforward messages announce the power and wonder of God's nature. As well, a believing response is presented in its most radical form. At times, the vocal inflections display an aggressive passion for Christ. Other songs revisit the pop euphoria of new-wave music. During the ballads, a more worshipful flavor emerges as lead singer John L. Cooper shares an intimate knowledge of God's love. It is not an easy task for music with this much energy to accurately convey the heart of the message it carries, but that is what Skillet has set out to do, and they show no sign of slowing down. --Israel Button

5.0 out of 5 stars Skillet is Invincible!, February 8, 2000
By Justin Mahaffie (Kingsland, GA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
One of the few bands who get even BETTER with every new release. They are definately at the top of their game with the release of Invincible. The music varies from the intense White Zombie-esque "Powerful" to the slower "I Rest" and "You're the One" that compare to last album's "More Faithful." There's also a song at the end called "Angels Fall Down" that is beyond comparison. The song actually made me cry. The album "Invincible" blends incredible music with the uncomprimising lyrics that define the band. I give this album 6 out of 5 stars and will be listening to it for the next month straight. If you want an Incredible CD, get Invincible.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best cd I have ever heard in my born days!, April 19, 2000
Invincible is the best christian techno-rock album on themarket.I bought it...and I can't stop listening to it.The first time Ilistened to it was in the christian bookstore. From then on I was hooked. The lyrics of the songs just make you want to put the cd on repeat so you can listen to it over and over.Every time I listen to it I feel closer to god and it makes me glad to know him!The cd itself is worth alot more than what you pay for it becoase of the excitement you get from listening to thier spiritualy powerfull lyrichs. So do yourself a favor and buy Skillet,Invincible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oooops I overlooked this album on my last review!, July 2, 2001
By John "imjohn89" (Des Moines, IA) - See all my reviews
The more I played this disk, the more it grew on me. I am really impressed with it. I guess I just wasn't used to it at first. I highly recommend this cd. Skillet is a great all around christian band with a great mission to impact the youth. If you buy this album, it may take you some time to get used to it. But it is loaded with talent. Just a great all around cd. With great musical talents. Each of the songs are unique and sound great. And the message for Christ is AWESOME!
