WOW!!! A Great read but did he answer the Question?, August 16, 2011
This review is from: Invisible Eagle Hb (Hardcover)
Was the Question Answered well sort of. The Jury is still out in this book. I will explain that later. In Invisible Eagle, Alan Baker, takes a look at the NAZI's and the occult from a Historical perspective. Since the end of WW2 there has been constant consternation and contention in trying to explain Hitler and the NAZI's. Were they EVIL? Is there EVIL? Where they occultists? and Is there a demonic realm that the NAZIs taped into?
Ok first let me say as a Historian Baker cannot answer that last question, He can only tell us what the NAZI's believed. Did the NAZi's believe in the Occult YES, many of them did, did they attempt to gain the help of pagan gods (spiritual powers), the answer is yes they did, especially Himmler. The German people were primed for this neo paganism of the Nazis, after the scientific revolution, many people turned from traditional Christianity and were looking for a spiritual avenue and many Germans looked to the accent folklore. In Fact the NAZI's banned Christmas and instead celebrated the winter solstice and also the summer solstice. They decided to exchange gifts at the summer solstice.
But what about Hitler? As far as Baker can tell he did not believe in the occult like Himmler did, but he used it and anything he could to inspire the people to do his will. As far as can be told Hitler was an Atheists, He blamed Jews, Russians and others for Germanys loss of WW1. He was an extreme racists who adopted a set of racial beliefs from German folklore (volkish) and also eastern Mysticism. He wanted racial purity and he saw exterminating the "inferior races" as doing right. That is the weirdest thing of all. If Hitler were a devil worshiper who murdered people for satan then would at least explain it. He may still turn out to be one, but so far to Baker is not proven. If he came to me I would of showed him Hitler's writing that indicated he was practicing the Occult.
In examining all these beliefs that many Modern Germans were accepting Baker takes us on journey of were each belief came from what each belief was and how it was used in Germany. Many things are covered, Hollow Earth Theory, Volkism legions, Eastren Myths, Eastern Ceremonies, Occult Ceremonies, and more and we also cover how people believe many of these today. Nazis escaping to Bases at the Poles, NAZI's UFOs, what provable or not. We also learn about Operation paperclip and how German scientists kept doing there work after WW2 in the USA and USSR. So of this is very disturbing we learn about the Projects MKULTRA, CHATTER, BLUEBURD, and PANDORA. This information is shocking and the book is worth the read just for this info alone.
In closing this book is packed with information that will help you in the search for finding out what the NAZIS were about. While the Jury hear is still out, on Hitler, we do learn allot about the German people and the NAZIs. Its a good read.
