Book Description

August 2004
In The Invisible Garment, Kaplan has expertly laid out 30 spiritual principles that weave the fabric of human life and make up the body of a spiritual wardrobe—a person’s spiritual DNA. Through the principles, we learn how to maintain our spiritual garment for relationships to our self, our spouse, our children, our colleagues, our community, our planet, our life and our God. Couldn’t all of us improve on at least ONE of these relationships?

Dr. Kaplan’s approach to understanding our astrological life chart teaches us how to find our purpose and place through the exploration and interpretation of our dreams.

The Invisible Garment teaches us to:
· Look at "what's right with you" rather than "what's wrong with you."
· Liberate yourself to wear YOUR specific garment rather than trying to meet the expectations of others.
· Understand how you are always supported by an undergarment of simple underlying spiritual principles.
· Remind yourself of your divine nature.
· Avoid falling in love with what you think you SHOULD be doing.
· Dodge the rut of figuring out what to DO before you know what you came here to BE.
· Stop overanalyzing your "shoulds."
· Forget wishing for things to be "tidy"—randomness and chaos breed possibility!

About the Author

Dr. Connie Kaplan, who holds Master’s degrees in Communications and Psychology and a Doctorate of Ministry, is the author of The Woman’s Book of Dreams (Beyond Words, 1999) and Dreams are Letters from the Soul (Random House/Harmony, 2002). Acclaimed as manifestos for dreamers, these books have made Kaplan instrumental in the rapidly growing international phenomenon, dream circles. Called the "red tents" of the twenty-first century, dream circles are intimate gatherings where dreamers come together, listen deeply to one another’s dreams, and unveil the spiritual wisdom encoded therein.

For 13 years in talks and seminars across the country, Kaplan has revolutionized traditional views of dreaming by teaching that dreams are a hotline to deep spiritual connection. The ultimate dream guide, Kaplan has aided many in understanding these nocturnal messages from the soul.

Connie began her own dream-time journey in 1986 when she was struck with a mysterious illness that sent her to bed for over 18 months, ending a successful career in television production. During the 15 hours a day she slept, dream teachers more fascinating than any Hollywood characters came to her and taught her the secrets of dreaming as a spiritual practice.

Kaplan is neither a guru nor a channel. She is simply a powerful and popular spiritual guide whose revolutionary information does not point toward the teacher, but rather toward the unique and genuine wisdom of the student.

She lives in Santa Monica, California with her husband and children, and leads a waking life that is as ordinary as her sleeping life is extraordinary.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2 THUMBS UP!, September 26, 2004

If you loved "Dreams Are Letters From The Soul" as much as I did, you will want to get this new book from Connie Kaplan. Although spun from the gossamer threads of the dream weave, Connie Kaplan's Invisible Garment has the weight of her substantial spiritual knowledge, the warmth of her personality, and the modern elegance of her prose style. Kaplan has broken it down for us into 30 Spiritual Principles --- yes, she covers those two usual suspects "Love" and "Peace", but, there are other principles less familiar such as "Regeneration" and "Flowering" as well as "Desire" and "Ecstasy" that make for a compelling read. In this book, Kaplan lays out a system that goes beyond astrology and explains how to identify our own soul principles and then guides us in how to integrate those principles into our daily lives. The real work begins when you finish reading the book and "wearing" your own Invisible Garment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remembering that we are blessing and gift!, October 2, 2004
This review is from: The Invisible Garment: 30 Spiritual Principles That Weave the Fabric of Human Life (Hardcover)
There are many books circulating that have us trying to figure out "what is my purpose in life" and "what am I supposed to do" with my life. Ah - relax! The search is over! The information in The Invisible Garment reminds us that there is nothing to learn in this lifetime, nothing to be constantly searching for, suffering for. No, the issue is can we remember the gift we are from the heart of the Cosmos - from the heart of mystery. This is not "mumbo jumbo", being in denial, jargon. As a seasoned psychotherapist and spiritual guide, I can attest that the information about the sacred principles is a missing piece - and most often the turn around point - for my clients. People define themselved in terms of "what is wrong with me - what flaw within me makes me a magnet for disaster- why am I just not good enough". Over and over, when the material of the principles is presented to clients, there is this huge release - this return to a knowing that "I Am" is the core truth of existence. I urge every professional in the mental health and spiritual guidance fields to read and meditate on this book. You will be grateful for the gift!

2.0 out of 5 stars Mildly Inspirational & Interesting, March 12, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Invisible Garment: 30 Spiritual Principles That Weave the Fabric of Human Life (Hardcover)
This is the book for you if you need someone to define your soul's purpose in this life. Personally, I do not. I believe each soul needs to neutrally absorb all information and guidance, honestly reflect on it and toss it into the trash if it attempts to steer you away from your ultimate gift--free will. Personally, I did not resonate with most of the biblical references and quotes peppered throughout the book. If these references were organized separately, it would have not have interrupted my flow and the grasp of the material. To me, religion and spirituality are not the same. I have studied various religions and believe religion is didactic and unhealthy for the soul due to its long history of free-will manipulation. Personally, I would have enjoyed reading more detailed interepretations of the 30 spiritual principals and liked this portion of the piece, even though I found it subtly manipulative at times. I would have also been interested in detailed interpretations for the North/South Nodes, Chiron, Vesta, Juno, Pallas and the 12 House Cusps. I believe each and every soul must awaken and do their own work, answer their own questions and yes, at times allow their fellow sisters and brothers to help light the way. After all, I enjoy the freedom to select my own wardrobe. And although I am open to guidance and suggestions, I do not want someone to tell me who I'm designed to be or what to wear--especially angels.
