This review is from: Invisible Groom (Harlequin American Romance) (Paperback)
I admit to being someone who is not inclined to read romance novels as a rule, but I picked this one up on a whim. I admit after reading reviews of Ms Bretton's other work and visiting her website, I was expecting something of mature writing quality, which was not the case.
Characters have great chemistry, but go so quickly from arguing to sucking the lips off each other, that I felt sure I had missed something. Physical scenes seem slapped on the end of conversations as a form of punctuation, without regard to appropriateness to the scene. Character depth is little more than an assemblage of cliches. Poorly transitioned would be the best way to describe this book. Cute idea, to base a harlequin romance on elements of the harlequinade, but so silly, I couldn't finish the thing. |
