Uproariously Funny!!!,
This review is from: My Invisible Husband (Urban Soul Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nikki Montana is a single 34-year-old account executive that is tired of her family pressuring her about getting married. Nikki decides to fake a Las Vegas wedding to please her family. On her return trip to Dallas, Nikki meets the sexy Byron Matthews on the plane. She is already too caught up in her web of deceit and now everyone wants to actually meet this mysterious new husband. Not having any other options, Nikki enlists the help of Byron to play as her husband. Will Byron go along with Nikki's crazy plan or will he just walk away?
My Invisible Husband is a widely entertaining novel by Shelia M. Goss. Goss brought a unique and fast-paced storyline. I loved the drama and the humor in this novel. Some of the dialogue had me laughing out loud. This story will definitely have readers flipping the pages. My Invisible Husband is delightful and uproariously funny.

Lies that Become Truth,
By Loose Leaves Book Review (Atlanta, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Invisible Husband (Paperback)
Nicolette "Nikki" Montana has everything a single female wants - the dream job, comfortable home, sports car, shapely figure, and a personality everyone loves. The one thing she doesn't have is a husband. Nikki is sick and tired of people asking when she is going to settle down and get married. She wants to take back her life and be able to focus on herself and take her job to the next level. After careful deliberation she decides to sneak off and marry an "invisible husband" in Las Vegas. Nikki has it all planned out until she meets Byron.
In this game of charades she fools everyone. Her co-workers plan her a bridal shower, family set up a welcome home congratulations dinner, and her girlfriends arrange a bachlorette party. In a feverish rush to cover all the lies she has told, she decides to let Byron in on the "invisible husband" story. Byron buys into it so he can be closer to Nikki. The one thing he fails to reveal is his psycho ex-girlfriend, Tara. Does Bryon really love Nikki or is he trying to get back at Tara? My Invisible Husband flows quickly from one scene to the next, entertaining the reader with comic relief and "no she didn't" thoughts. Even though the entire story is based on a lie, morality is the lesson learned. The character development and interaction was down-to-earth while the story line did have areas that were a bit unbelievable. There are a few grammatical errors and confusion surrounding Nikki's name (Nicolette doesn't show up until page 55). My Invisible Husband is drama filled and certain to keep you reading. Didn't want it to end,
By Winnie M. Brown (Columbia, SC) - See all my reviews

I am so pleased with My Invisible Husband. This is one of the best novels I've read in a long time. As I read it, I saw each scene playing before me like a lifetime movie. Sheila Goss has done an excellent job in bringing to life Nikki and Byron's story. I didn't want it to end.

What one will do to make others happy.,

This review is from: My Invisible Husband (Urban Soul Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the plot of this story can be found anywhere in life. Some of the characters in here will have you shaking your head from left to right. I could see women & men making up these types of stories to keep family and friends off their backs about being single. I know some parts of the story were to far fetch; but it's just fiction.
From front to back we have thirty-four-year-old Nikki Montana who thinks she's created a foolproof scheme when she invents an imaginary groom, but a plan this good could only backfire... On the plane ride back to Dallas from her make-believe whirlwind Las Vegas wedding, she meets her true prince. Talk about bad timing! Handsome and successful, Byron Matthews is everything she's ever wanted in a guy, and then some (Who doesn't?). Later on in the story Nikki's family wants to meet her mystery husband and face the facts. Shelia M. Goss did a great job with her debut novel and I'm looking forward in reading "Roses are thorns and Violets are true". This book was well written and clearly states that God wants us to have patience and not handle his business, but to have faith. I loved the romance between Nikki and Byron. He was loving and willing to take a risk on being happy -- no matter how big the gamble was. It speaks volumes about how women are pressured to accept anything from a man (and what lengths they will go to) -- just so they can say they are married. Recommend to those who need a good book to read.

Charades,
This review is from: My Invisible Husband (Paperback)
Shelia Goss goes to the extreme, showing what one woman will do to get her family and friends out of her personal business. Nicolette Montana "Nikki" is a thirty four year old account executive that fakes her own marriage to please her family. When her fake marriage begins to back fire, Nikki ends up pulling a helpless bystander in to the mix of things. Nikki meets Byron Matthews on a plane where he wastes his coffee all over a pair of her shoes. As the story unfolds Byron Bryon goes along with Nikki's idea becoming her invisible husband but Byron has plans of his own. Bryon & Nikki go through extreme drama trying to pull off the perfect fake marriage. When things get sticky Bryon has to step up to the plate and make things right.
Shelia Goss takes you on an incredible ride through Nikki & Byron's fake marriage into their future that holds them and their family together.

Playing Charades,
This review is from: My Invisible Husband (Paperback)
Nicolette Montana tries to fool her family and friends by saying that she's married. When she meets Byron, she doesn't think she'll fall in love. If you're looking for something light and humorous, I would recommend it. It's also a quick read.

Boy this was a first-rate read. It was very well written, with both interesting and intelligent characters. Nikki and Bryon were great for each other. Although it was silly of Nikki to "pretend", I certainly felt her pain. Single women over 30 are often coerced (by nosey busybodies) into feeling that being unmarried is worse than contracting leprosy. LOL I especially loved the ending. This is a wonderful love story. I look forward to reading Sheila's next novel.

When are you getting married?
Why aren't you married yet? Don't you want kids? I have the perfect guy for you... Nikki Montana is sick and tired of being sick and tired of hearing about being over 30 and single. So much so that she's concocted a plan - an invisible husband. She fakes a private Vegas wedding and explains away her husband's absence with constant business trips. What she didn't plan for was meeting Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome on the plane ride home. "My Invisible Husband" was refreshing, entertaining and a delight to read. In the version I have, the editing is pretty bad, but I see that the book was re-released with another publisher so I'm sure that was taken care of. Recommend "My Invisible Husband" for anyone looking for a good, quick read.

My Invisible Husband Book Review by Keisha Matthews,

My Invisible Husband
By Sheila Goss Book Review By Keisha Matthews I had never heard of this book, I was unfamiliar with the author and I was reluctant to read the book, because the cover reminded me of a Harlequin novel cover. However, I decided to delve in because, of course, "you can never judge a book by its cover." I was immediately taken in by the personality of the main character, Nikki (Nicolette Montana) and the predicament she found herself in. Nikki lived in the Dallas area, working for an ad agency. She was a professional woman in her early thirties and a lover of shoes - this fact alone had me, since I to, am a shoe lover. It was this love of shoes and her mostly self-imposed situation that were the foundation of the book. Nikki began to bow to the perceived pressure her family and friends put on her to settle down and get married. Her brilliant solution to this problem was to stage a fake wedding in Las Vegas and just pretend to be married to get everyone to leave her alone. On her way back from Vegas, she sat next to a very handsome man on the plane who accidentally spilled his drink on her favorite pair of shoes. They exchanged numbers so he could replace the stained shoes and that was where it all began. Byron Matthews turned out to be a professional, extremely handsome, single, homeowner, who was ready to find the love of his life so he could settle down. He was smitten with Nikki and agreed to help fool her family. They even moved in together to pull off this elaborate lie. But as always, it's the unexpected that makes a story. The two fell in love, but encountered several hurdles and found the secrets they lived day to day almost destroyed the most perfect love they had ever known and had for each other. By the way, he does replace the shoes. This love story was like a breath of fresh air to me. The author found a delicate balance, mixing the aspects of love, everyday life and the crap we get ourselves into, just being plain old foolish. The difference between this and other love stories is the smut factor. I appreciated the fact she allowed her story to imbed itself into my imagination and let my mind do the rest. I am very impressed with this author! I very much enjoyed being a part of this story and look forward to hearing from her again soon! Shelia Goss is a two-time Essence Magazine's bestselling author. She is also the author of Roses are Thorns, Violets are True, and the recently released, Paige's Web. She is also a freelance reporter and has interviewed some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Shelia resides in Shreveport, LA.
