A must read for everyone.,
By
This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
These three women have written about very painful subjects with humor, inspiration, and true sincerity. They did not play on your emotions - you did not and could not feel sorry for them - you did feel bad for the pain they suffered - but they led you through their pain and into a new world of being whole and powerful. A world where you have control over your life and emotions. They have shown us how they took charge of their lives by taking responsibility for the decisions and choices that they have made.
Are they special women? Yes, they are - and no, they are not. They are like you and me. But through their writing they have made it clear that everyone on this planet is special. And it is the love that we share with others that makes us whole no matter how many body parts we are missing. These women are insightful and witty and wise. They have turned painful moments into humorous stories that everyone will enjoy and learn from. I am on my way to the ripe age of 60 and have been experiencing some health problems. My doctor is great but young. I am going to buy this book for her - I think it will help her understand her over 50 clients.

SEXY AND SAVVY AT AGE 50+,
This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
This book is a candidly written illustration of the fact that women need to discard their misperceptions regarding chronological age and recognize that life experience, wisdom, and inner self confidence is what makes them attractive to others. This book clearly depicts the meaning of empowerment and poignantly demonstrates that women should not be restrained by age perception stereotypes. It is a heartwarming and refreshing read that undoubtedly will serve as a genuine inspiration to all women.

I have just finished reading this book, from which I learned so much about these three wonderful and feisty women whom I thought I knew. I believe that this is a courageous, honest telling of what life is like for women over 50, AND,it is far from discouraging. In fact, I came away from reading it absolutely convinced that it is never too late to have an fulfillng, wonderful, passionate and engaging life. All of the circumstances and obstacles any of us have encountered in our lives, and these women have overcome some pretty big ones, are nothing but bumps in the road if we just allow ourselves to keep on growing. I celebrate the authors and say "Hurry, don't wait" to buy and read this book, whether you are 25 or 50+. I have already given away 3 copies of the book to others who I believe will also love it and learn from it.

Knowing Your Own Story,
This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
I'm convinced that knowing and embracing one's own story is the key to good mental and emotional health and critical to recovery from personal trauma. The three authors of Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50, through their book, have offered us all inspiration by chronicling what self-knowledge and self-acceptance can accomplish. Although the book was written by women specifically for women, men as well can benefit from the authors' examples in the way they took on life challenges, accepted their vulnerability, and acknowledged their humanity while on their respective paths to delight and acceptance.
Guys, be a good friend to yourself and to the important women in your life, buy the book, read the book and give it with love. -Bill L'Hommedieu Arlington, Virginia

Crossover-below 50!,

I read this book in one sitting because it was so captivating. As a young black woman, it was great to absorb "real-time" experiences of women who've "been there/done that". Jean, Renee and Joyce offer an opportunity for women under 50 to have "girl talk" and get lessons without pretense or preachiness. I've recommended it to my family and friends, particularly those who think they are losing something. Finally, there are bonus universal principals of spiritual responsibility and choice that speak to anyone. Thank you Ladies!

From invisible to visible,
This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
I just loved this book. I found it to be on target with how many of us women feel or have experienced. I think it was very brave of the three woman to tell all, but in doing so they truly helped themselves. I just couldn't put the book down. I bought several more copies to send to women friends. It's terrific!

This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 is a memoir of three different women who each tell the story of their life journey to their golden years. Written with wit, aplomb, modesty, and enthusiasm, Invisible No More covers topics ranging from sexuality at five decades to faith and spirituality, maintaining physical health (and a trim waistline), shifting gears, and contemplations on the difference between solitude and loneliness. Invisible No More earns its distinction of being an iUniverse reader's choice book through its honesty, optimism, and life-affirming insights. Highly recommended.

Writing New Chapters,

This review is from: Invisible No More: The Secret Lives of Women Over 50 (Paperback)
This is a great book for women. It is: honest, raw, sweet, sad, happy, inspiring, powerful, creative, truthful, heavy, light, challenging, and the adjectives keep on flowing....oh, yeah - flowing.
I came upon the chapter on Our Mothers and had to put the book down when I read Joyce's second paragraph about wanting to feel and smell her mother. I knew right then I had to step away from the book for a while if I wanted to keep my composure.Since losing my mother 5 years ago, sometimes the rawness of it still lingers on the hairs of my body, so to speak. So, I knew I had to stroke and calm myself before I could read on. l did eventually read it and was ready. The chapters elicit such deep responses on so many levels - emotional, mental, spiritual and sometimes physical - depending on the subject matter and how the reader might take the information in and how the body might respond. At times, my heart fluttered from joy and sometimes it knotted from the feelings of sadness until the flow continued and washed the knots away. Of course, being a grandmother, I loved the chapter on Leaving Normalcy Behind. When I read Joyce's entry I thought about how much her life was lived around such deep convictions for so many causes. It reminded me of myself in the 70's. It also showed me how deep Joyce's convictions are now and how she will choose, when the grand kids come, to let them be themselves and not lavish them with all that she has done in the past but let them know she, as the person who stands in the world now - and even deeper as a grandmother who has nothing more sacred to do with her time and love but love the children into themselves, letting their sweet souls dictate who that will be for them. What I realize is that the book and each entry from Renee, Joyce and Jean give us their story and ask us to find our own, to own it and cherish it, change it, add to it, extract from it, sculpt it or leave it according to our own soul's path. There is no judgment - just a deep sharing that continues to create a deep sharing with those who read their words. It is timely. Women need to realize that our stories are just that. Stories. We write them, live them, rewrite them, relive them, and share them with others. We are all unique and when we accept ourselves as such we will see all of our faces, minds, bodies and spirits as such. I feel it is really time that women begin to hold their stories dear and near and then be willing to let them fade and fly into a new chapter. We all write books in our souls. It has always been so. I bought this book because I thought it would be information about how women over 50 are living, and advice about the various issues. But it's just a group of essays by a few women. Wish there were more non-fiction books about our issues, and how to deal with them, instead of bios, or basically how NOT to be invisible!!!

I wish this book was invisible so I wouldn't have bought it. One prolapse after another is enough for me. BORING!!! And a waste of my money. Actually I wouldn't of given it one star but I couldn't send the review unless I checked one.
