Book Description

7 and up2 and upTrophy Chapter Books

One morning after a terrible storm, the Lambchop family can't find Stanley. Then they hear his voice. They see a lump under his covers. But he just doesn't seem to be there. And then they realize the truth -- Stanley has become invisible!

At first Stanley likes invisibility. He can help along a shy couple's romance. He can make the world's most unusual television appearance. He can even fight crime -- and win!

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-3-Stanley Lambchop continues his antics begun in Flat Stanley (1964) and Stanley and the Magic Lamp (1996, both HarperCollins). This time, he disappears during an electrical storm. He takes advantage of his invisibility, helping to steady a new bike rider and avoid the jeers of older children, and helping a shy man propose to his sweetheart by saying "marry me" for him. Stanley also gives his younger brother the spotlight by appearing (or rather not appearing) on a talk show to assist him with magic tricks. And finally, he helps foil a bank robbery attempt. Bjorkman's simple, cartoonlike sketches add to the humorous episodes that are sure to tickle the funny bones of early chapter-book readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Invisible Stanley, July 17, 2000

This review is from: Invisible Stanley (Paperback)
One of the most memorable books that was ever read to me as a child was Flat Stanley. While searching for this book 24 years later I disovered Invisible Stanley. Invisible Stanley serves up the same type of fun with its title character discovering the ups and downs of being different while learning important lessons along the way; lessons such as teamwork, honesty, compassion, and the importance of family. And even though Harry is invisible for a time the illustrations allow kids to see Harry nontheless. Before Harry Potter ever thrilled the masses Stanley Lambchop thrilled one little boy, and 24 years later he's done it again as Invisible Stanley. This book is great for kids of all ages but especially for those who aren't quite old enough for Harry Potter. A great bedtime story to read to your kids.

A Kid's Review

I didn't like Invisible Stanley because it didn't have enough action or character's thoughts and feelings. Flat Stanley is much better than Invisible Stanley.I like how Stanley gets flat by a bulletin board.
